Left Brain versus Right Brain "test"

Here's a little "test" you can do that supposedly tells you whether you're left- or right-brain-dominant.

I have tried really hard and can only see the woman rotating clockwise, but others can consciously make the direction change. I don't think I'm a "right-brain person" specifically, but then again I doubt the validity of such a test.

Be warned though: if your computer is slow, the rotating image will not be smooth.

I see clockwise too. I guess the only way I could see it counter clockwise, is to see her spinning from below. I doubt this test too.

Update:

My friend said that he could switch it by blinking, so I looked harder and found this:

Look at the shadow and get a feel for how it spins counter clockwise. Then look at the woman spinning and it will be counter-clockwise. Wow. So I guess our brains judge on first impression, because when I blink she spins clockwise again.

On this other left right brained test I scored 11 right, 7 left.

I know not what I am - it was mostly equal in both but biased for clockwise: on first glance - anti clockwise, but then it kept changing. I found if I looked at the foot spinning around its axis, it went clockwise and then it did not change.

So I guess I
feel my way with logic
like a detailed "big picture"
imagine the facts
use the words and language of images
have my future set in the past
love maths and the religion of science
comprehend meanings
know that I believe or, is that, I believe that I know
acknowledge and appreciate - apparently both simultaneously
perceive order or patterns in space
know the function of named objects
have reality based in fantasy
form strategies that present possibilities
am practically impetuous
a safe risk taker..

lol..

I am decidedly undecided [sic] on this test and often see spinning images on computer which can go in either direction. I would like to know what practical use this is for science and mankind or where it is heading, but can't afford the time to reasearch it.

Speculation: A better illusionary or mind control perhaps to make you see things from a false perspective and you tell yourself it is something to take notice of or ignore or it was something else contrasting what you did see or are seeing. In direct reference to Laura on a SOTT Podcast where she recounts seeing a UFO for the first time, she attempted to justify what was actually seen with the fact that it was something else such as a flock of geese.

Anti clockwise was dominant here for me , and having looked at the description of what the result translates as I have to doubt the validity of such a test.

I was able to reverse it though via looking at the shadow and then back at the figure. Though on first looking as ive said it was anti clockwise dominant. Oh when I looked at the shadow, somehow I was able to make the shadow go clockwise or anti clockwise depending on which way I wanted it to go.

I can make it go both ways, what I do is think of the leg which is sticking out going behind the one which is straight, or in front. Can't say I completely trust this test either :)

Counter-clockwise. Both the woman and the shadow. Hmm...I don't trust this test because I'm usually right-brained. And, of course, I spin counter-clockwise every day, just like her. :)

I can see her alternatively spinning first one way then the other. I asked my wife to look and she sees both ways as well. But what's intriging is that while we are both looking at the same time, I can sometimes see her spinning one way while she sees her spinning the other way, sometimes we both see her spinning the same way. Which leads me to suspect it's not really a left brain right brain thing.

Well while I don't necessarily agree with what that article was suggesting, I do believe that some people find it harder to change the direction they perceive the spinning, and that this probably signifies something, though I don't know what. I am one such person -- I've only managed to see the woman spinning counterclockwise once and that was brief.

That was interesting. I see her spinning clockwise, but using peripheral vision she spins either way, and blinking can switch it.

oh!!

I saw it both ways. It depends on first perspective (your brain somehow
"locks on" in a certain viewpoint) and locks it for a time until somehow you
can look away and try again. Over and over. It is getting out of a "locked mode"
before you can see it the other way. I noticed the switch when the frame froze and
then restarted and at that instant, the switch-over started right away.

Very interesting indeed!

I don't know what it is. My last post occurred at home (this morning), which I saw the woman going counter-clockwise. But, now I'm at work and decided to look at it again (afternoon)...it's going clockwise!

Two questions come to mind:
1) Does the figure movement changes as according to the user's IP address?
or
2) Does our perceptions change with time?

Indeed, this test is interesting...

No because people have already posted that they can make it go both ways without reloading the page.

I think its just an optical illusion, you know, like other optical illusions where one person will see an old womans face and another will see the back of an eskimo or something, and when you know about both possibilities you can switch from one to the other. I think its kind of random really, in that its just down to how it "catches" you when you first look at it, if that makes sense.

The interesting thing for me is that the test proves you can look at things and not realise there is another way to look at it, and therefore see it :)

Yay! I did it. I can now easily change the both directions by looking at the shadow on the bottom in order to 'shift' direction. Whew! That was tough. :D
