When you look back on Quebec's history before the Anglo invasion you will see that there has always been a select few controlling the many. After the Anglo invasion, the French ruling class merely traded one power for another and become the intermediaries between English rule and it's practical application to the people. They continued to be wealthy and exert considerable power, since they already had well established methods of manipulating the institutions, including the church, as well as the people.
The quiet revolution was an interesting period of self awareness and intellectual activity. It was what propelled the younger people to the cities, away from their rural beginnings, creating a form of diaspora within their own province. However, the revolution quickly focused its attention on English control and completely missed the pathocrats within their own midst. This made it quite easy for the power class to foment separatism and belief in the need to protect their culture at all cost, creating another divide and conquer result. Until the Quebecois recognize their susceptibility to being fooled by their own to keep looking outside as the primary threat, they will never see the greater threat from within, OSIT.
The fear of the effects and influence of the "other", be it the rest of Canada, assimilation, England, the US or immigration from non-Catholic, non-Franco outsiders, is so entrenched in the culture that the Quebecois so adamantly protect, they may never see the poison apple placed in the orchard.
Really, it was a rather brilliant plan to ensure only certain people continue to rule Quebec, no matter who is "in power". Reminds me of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

The myth of global warming is well established on this forum and on SotT and evidenced by how the PTB now call it climate change, so I wouldn't put to much faith in any warming trends you might think you are experiencing. :)JayMark said:Don't worry, global warming is taking care of the cold. Winters are slowly fading and summers are becoming very harsh, especially this year (emphasis). We are pulverizing heat records at an astonishing rate. This is causing many many problems. Climate is becoming more tropical-like in summer.
When the ice age hits, it'll be quite devastating to begin with but on that point, we indeed are more used to deal with crazily cold weather. But for 365 days a year? Hummm. If they don't expect it (and most don't) it sure will be a deadly transition.
