Life on Mars? Amazing photos from Nasa probe

There is the following image taken on Mars by "Curiosity" in 14th of July this year. Look for the "ufo" at the horizon.

That's an incredible photo. How earth-like it looks with the mountains in the background. The broken rock - the amount of it - seems problematic in a desert landscape. It seems "blasted" almost. Desertification of soil and alluvial remnants don't usually look like this on earth. Do they?

The anomaly could be a craft or window device of some type - but I think it's difficult to assess because of the size and the resolution.

The corresponding image taken by LEFT Navigation cameras does not have this artifact, though:
