I need to make a correction to a post I made in:

Since this is off-topic over there, I'm posting the correction here.
Because I was relying on my memory of an event from 50 years ago, I screwed up. (Sorry!)

Little Boy Lost was recorded in 1960 by Johnny Ashcroft.
It turns out that there is another song of the same name by another artist, with different lyrics.
Johnny Ashcroft's version is the one I was referring to, and this song has been covered by many other artists, including Slim Dusty.

Little Boy Lost
Lyrics

In the wild New England ranges came the word one fateful day
To every town and village that a boy had lost his way
All the town folk quickly gathered and the wild bush horses tossed
They went out to search the ranges for this little boy lost
They went out to search the ranges for this little boy lost

Came the night
Came the mornin'
Another night
Another dawnin'
And a mother weeps in silence as she kneels before the cross
while she prays to God in heaven for her little boy lost

The blazin' sun beat down upon the earth that final day
And with heavy hearts they prayed to God above to show the way
When from a scrubby gully came a voice they'd ne'er forgot
Where's my daddy, Where's my daddy, Cried the little boy lost
Where's my daddy, where's my daddy, Cried the little boy lost

In the wild New England ranges there's a boy that's known so well
There's a story that the town folk and bushmen often tell
How he fought a rugged country where man had seldom crossed
And a mother's prayers were answered for her little boy lost
And a mother's prayers were answered for her little boy lost.

Recorded 1962
from the Album "Aussie Sing Song" by Slim Dusty and his Bushlanders.

The story behind the song:
There was a four year old boy lost in rough country for four days in February 1960 near Armadale, NSW.
His name was Steven Walls.
A song was written by artist Johnny Ashcroft about this event, and it hit the top ten for a long time.
Steven Walls was recovered, but the song was still in the top ten when there was a young boy
kidnapped and held to ransom, named Graeme Thorne, whose parents had won the first Sydney Opera House Lottery.
The kidnapper was arrested, and eventually died in jail, but the Thorne boy had been killed.
Johnny Ashcroft voluntarily withdrew his song from the hit parade in deference to the Thorne family
The song was subsequently covered by many artists, including Slim Dusty.
