Lucy (2014)

Hi, find this in Lucy.

It's the part of the movie near the end where "Jang and his men infiltrate the place and start shooting. Lucy gives the rest of the CPH4 to the professors for them to synthesize into a liquid material that goes into her bloodstream. Her brain function goes to 70% and her hands start to turn into a black wormy sort of goo that attaches itself to the computers in the room, giving Lucy more energy from matter, and thereby supplying her with an insane amount of power. As her brain function continues to increase, she manipulates matter in such a way that she seems to erase everything in the room, leaving the professors standing in white space before creating some kind of new age super computer before their eyes. From outside, as Jang's men are shot down by the police, he orders Jii to do something. Jii takes a rocket launcher and blasts through the room, sending Lucy thousands of miles to Times Square. She manages to move time with a wave of her hand. "

That's what I assumed was wanted as soon as I saw her post... if not then I have no idea; but that's where those pics are from, as she lands in Time Square after the rocket explosion behind her from the gun battle in the corridor...

I think Lamadu is just presenting two images from the film where the second one says "We've got your back".

I see now what Lamadu was pointing out, but still, how can we have a discussion when someone just posts a picture and doesn't bring up anything about it?

@Lamadu:
External consideration means realizing that not everyone has your thoughts, so you should explain your ideas. Then, we can have a discussion about what you discovered.

Hey lamadu, can you please give more details? Not everyone sees what you find- I see the circle 1 heart 2, but it doesn't mean anything to me.

On first picture is: 1 heart 2 and picture of alien (grey).
On second picture is: We've got your back and again alien (grey).

Small brainwashing or Besson wants to tell, until the gray us pinned to the back, no wake, or transformation of humans.

Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't even notice the grey!

The main feeling I got from the movie is just that it is from the perspective of a transhumanist view of the future. Nothing special, nothing different, just science "knows it all". Aka Materialism, LOL

I really didn't like the story in this movie. The concept of unlocking our full brain capacity is a bit cliche. More disturbing to me was the loss of her humanity with increasing brain function. She completely disregards all other human life in her self centred quest for accessing all knowledge. Which is self justified by it becoming her service to humanity, though in her wake is destruction. In the movie it is justified by the line' "we never really die". But apparently it is totally okay to deny other humans of their chosen life experience.

Her psychopathic behaviour creeped me out; no empathy for her fellow humans caught in the crossfire.

Are we meant to start thinking that the psychos that run this place are more highly developed intelligences? Was that the purpose of this movie?

I feel like this obsession with the brain is influenced by the trans humanist agenda to have infinite knowledge, even if that may not be the purpose of these levels of consciousness.

Perhaps that is where STS fails, this seeking of infinite power/knowledge/wisdom- much like depicted in Lucy.

Also the 4 enemies of man stated by Don Juan Matus:
-fear
-clarity
-power (where this agenda seems to focus on)
-old age

From Session 11 November 1995
A: Lord of Serpent promises its followers infinite power which they must seek infinite knowledge to gain, for which they pledge allegiance infinitely, for which they possess for all eternity, so long as they find infinite wisdom, for which they search for all infinity.

Q: (L) Well, that is a round robin... a circle you can't get out of!

A: And therein you have the deception! Remember, those who seek to serve self with supreme power, are doomed only to serve others who seek to serve self, and can only see that which they want to see.

I didn't mind this film.

Thought the coolest part was a line of dialogue in the 3rd act towards the end.

Morgan freeman's character says something along the lines of humans aren't ready for this knowledge, that it would create chaos.
Lucy replies knowledge doesn't create chaos, ignorance does.

Other than that, entertaining. Wouldn't take it as gospel :)

I lasted 5 minutes, by which point the first character has been shot dead (with his blood liberally sprayed all over the nearest window), and the lead character has been abducted and - terrified - is forced to witness a junkie being force-fed drugs before having his brains blown out.

:barf:

Not my idea of fun dissociation.

I liked the main idea(about evolving and reaching an upper state of existence a la 4 density lvl ) presented in the the movie, but how it was delivered in the movie, don't know, to me it was delivered very, very, poorely(or better to say it wasn't delivered at all),it had no substance,it's a materialistic, mechanic and cheap entertainment piece of ...

Finally! Someone who agrees with me! Although I didn't even like the main idea, so overall and specifically, it was a "materialistic, mechanic and cheap entertainment piece of ... " :halo:

Just to save a good person's one and a half hour of their life, here's this review, which summarizes my own impressions of this film:

Lucy: The Dumbest Movie Ever Made About Brain Capacity

From the review:
5. Intercut with the previous scene is footage of a cheetah stalking, and ultimately downing, an antelope on the Serengeti. (Besson was evidently among the very few fans of Ridley Scott’s The Counselor.) It’s a metaphor, you see, for the bad guys who are closing in on helpless Lucy. In a little while, we’ll be treated a few more nature reels, though these will be used in a more literal fashion. After that, the movie will abandon the gimmick altogether. Rarely does one have the acute, real-time experience of watching a film recognize that one of its principal stylistic flourishes is so lame that it must be summarily discarded.

LOL! I totally agree! :ohboy:

Sorry, but had to share this from the review too

Johansson closes the movie with a voiceover echoing the one that opened the film: “Life was given to us a billion years ago. Now you know what to do with it.”

That’s right. What we are meant to “do” with this precious gift of life, our highest destiny and the final stage of human development, is to take massive quantities of drugs so that we can all leave our mortal flesh behind and evolve into glittery disco flash drives. Now you know.

:headbash: :ohboy: :cuckoo: :barf:

Yeah, we saw this movie too, and I hoped at least for some entertainment... what a waste. Stupid blockbuster-style clichés, disgusting scenes and stupid "messages"... Funny also how a "highly developed" human being is supposed to let all hell break loose on other people and doesn't care at all about massive "collateral damage".
