Maksim Mrvica

He is from Croatia, region called Dalmatia. He is well known musician and great artist, maybe he was famous musician in some past life.

Thank you Laura for this thread. :flowers:

I've been very much into his music some time ago, but kind of forgotten about him for the last few years. So this thread came as a wonderful surprise and reminder. ;D

I remember loving his version of Flight of the Bumblebee released on his first album The Piano Player, but as I can now see, that was a widespread impression.

Maksim’s first crossover album for EMI Classical, The Piano Player, was a huge success in 2003. It went Gold in Malaysia, China and Indonesia and Platinum in Taiwan, Singapore and his home country Croatia and Double Platinum in Hong Kong. It contained what has become, to many, his signature piece: a particularly energetic version of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight Of The Bumblebee. He is particularly proud that there is now an annual competition named after him in which amateur pianists play the piece.

Also, for my 25th birthday, my wife (at that time still girlfriend) bought us tickets for Maksim's outdoor concert. I was delighted with his performance under clear starry sky. This present has remained one of my best and most memorable ones till the present-day.

Wow, I'm speechless :jawdrop:. I'm going to have to make a music purchase I think.

Thanks Laura for sharing this!

My favourite rendition of the Hungarian Rhapsody:

Maksim is definitely a very talented pianist. You have to admire his skills.

Abso-lutely beautiful.
I like listening to classical music when I read.It helps me to concentrate.
Will make an effort to get hold of his CDs.
Thank you Laura.

Just came across this thread. What an amazing pianist! I love classical music, but never had much interest in it until I was pregnant with my first child. I never had any food cravings, but while I was pregnant I craved classical music and gathered alot of it on cassette tapes (it was 31 years ago). My favorite piece is Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Maksim Mrvica's rendition of this piece is very beautiful.
