Hi,
I am recently listening to "Meetings with remarkable men" and although this is background reading on the Forum, this book has no separate topic.
I loved this book and I found it also inspirational to my son.
He especially enjoyed "street smart" of Gurdjieff in New Buchara when he was making money on sparrows. We had a lot of fun.
There was this little thread earlier by Ryan X http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,14633.msg115097.html#msg115097 where he also mentions education of children. By the way is Ryan X still around?
Inspiration coming from this book for me is:
1. Alternative to educational system
2. Importance of education and creative ways where one may find lessons
3. Importance of finding good teachers (although this by examples of G teachers was probably more like: how to get the best of Your teacher)
4. Importance of handling normal life issues:
finding financial support,
finding Your group,
finding Your way in different societies by learning languages, adapting and understanding different traditions, moralities, religions and using this knowledge for bigger aim.
And simple commandments from chapter about his father:

And simple commandments from chapter about his father:
First - To love one's parents.
Secondary - To remain chaste.
Third - To be outwardly courteous to all without distinction, whether they be rich or poor, friends or enemies, powerpossessors or slaves, and to whatever religion they may belong, but inwardly to remain free and never to put much trust in anyone or anything.
Fourth's - To love work for work's sake and not for its gain.
