Meteor over Australia

Last night, while sitting outside for several hours, I spotted my first "proper" meteor! Several of the more usual meteors fell in the hours before in the western sky, but when I was observing the northern sky (towards the NSW/QLD border), a much brighter meteor fell. It only lasted a couple of seconds at most, however it fell at a very shallow angle relative to earth and left a distinct smoke trail, which I have never seen before. There was no sound, at least not from my location.

As far as I know, no one else has reported the sighting. But what a relief, I was beginning to think I was missing out down under! So far, we have only had drought, floods, bushfires, hailstorms and the odd tornado  Still, should be careful what you wish for...
