The craziness finally reached Belarus. Don't remember anything like it happening here before. In Russia, sure, especially recently, but this kind of level of overt violence is unheard of for this country.

The men wore masks as they stormed the bustling mall and then attacked people at random.

Masked men armed with a chainsaw and an axe went on a bloody rampage in a shopping mall 'decapitating' a woman and leaving others injured, it's reported.

Horrified witnesses claim one of the men 'lashed out at the first available person and cut off her head' at the Europa shopping mall in the capital of Belarus, Minsk.

The pair of unidentified men burst into the mall through a side entrance before chasing terrified shoppers and unleashing their bloody carnage at about 6pm local time.

Police have confirmed one has died but are yet to confirm how or what the motive was for the attack.

Hundreds of shoppers were in the centre at the time of the attack - the motive of which has not yet been revealed.

Just a note that in this case there are also those that say that there were two masked men, but the official version claims that there was only one person. According to the officials, this claim is also backed up by the footage on the security cameras. They say that the confusion comes from the fact that this person (17 years old Belorussian male) used not only a chainsaw but also an axe, each time alternating between them.

Geez.

How horrendous.

This RT version is now up on Sott.

An 18-year-old man has been detained after a gruesome chainsaw and ax attack in a shopping center in the Belarusian capital which left one woman dead and another injured.

"The suspect is a citizen of Belarus, born in 1998 and currently living in Minsk," police chief Alexander Barsukov was quoted as saying by Interfax. "He is now being interrogated at a police station in the capital."

The suspect, armed with an ax and a chainsaw, reportedly entered the Europe shopping center in central Minsk through a back door before attacking a group of young women sitting outside a pizzeria at around 17:40 local time. One of the women was killed while another was wounded by the chainsaw. To some witnesses, it appeared that the murdered woman may have been decapitated.

"He was some kind of madman," an eyewitness told the website Onliner.by. "He lashed out at the first person he saw and cut off her head."

The man then produced his ax and began threatening other people. Witnesses described crowds fleeing the scene while being pursued by the masked, ax-wielding assailant. One Twitter user told of seeing a woman lying in the lobby covered in blood.

Well, as usual, there are all kind of versions, but some still claim that they saw two men at the beginning, and that they appeared to be well dressed and well equipped. Meaning, that it wasn't an act of sudden insanity. Some sources even say that two were apprehended. But then, there are all kind of rumors flying around now.

Another thing is, that there is death penalty in Belarus, but only for those above age 18. This could be one of the reasons why in Belorussian sources they say that the young man is 17 years old.
