Miracure infrared lamp

We have an opportunity to get one of these. Does anyone know whether these are FIR and whether they are comparable to infrared sauna blankets?

Hi monotonic, interesting that you would ask as I recently got one of these, though a smaller one as they are cheaper. I don't think they're FIR, just infrared. I used to own a FIR lamp, but it broke down after three years, and get-fitt.com stopped selling them. I'd personally say that FIR probably has a better effect than infrared (based on my experiences), but so far the infrared lamp doesn't seem to be too bad either. It seems to have a positive effect on my skin/eyes. If you're tight on budget, perhaps an infrared lamp would be better, if not then I think the FIR blanket would be the better option. If you do take an infrared lamp, be careful not to keep it too close (I keep the distance at min. 80 cm), I also make sure to have my eyes closed.

There's also this Sott.net podcast about FIR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BiuYPo30Eg

Hope this helps!

Hi monotonic,

No it´s not FIR it´s near IR. I am using this near infrared lamp from Philips: http://www.philips.com.sg/c-p/HP3643_01/infracare-infrared-lamp
and find it has a profound relaxing effect and does enhance a lot of my arthritic mobility and other annoying symptoms as well. Although this model is meant to cover half of the body, I recall Laura commenting she also used a little near infrared lamp long time ago and that she would benefit from it to some degree. So I´d say it depends whether you´ll use it for a local issue, but for general detoxing of the body only a FIR lamp or blanket should do the job efficiently.

This is one of a site I just found now which is compairing a FIR with a NIR lamp fwiw: http://drlwilson.com/articles/SAUNAS-NEAR%20VS.%20FAR%20I.htm
and here more articles about NIR http://www.nearinfraredsauna.co.uk/#!articles
Nevertheless, I´m somewhat reluctant to what Dr. Wilson says about some electromagnetic issue with the use of FIR saunas as I can´t remember this ever being mentioned in other threads of this forum.

The link you provided shows only one IR lamp while the links above show a combination of several lamps, so it would depend on how much you can invest in it and see if you could afford a set of lamps. Also if you just type FIR with the search function you´ll find many threads around these topics.
