I really feel like I had the misfortune of working with a psychopath over a year ago. The guy was just very weird and it got to the point where I felt like I was going crazy because of his personality. Go figure, the psychopath making a normal person act in a crazy way. He had an ingratiating way about him and I noticed after a while that he took on a weird, little high pitched voice as well if he was trying to ingratiate him self. And he also kind of had those strange eyes that people talk about, like he was looking through me not at me. From most of the research that I have read, alot of it states that psychopaths are found in large companies, where they can move up the corporate ladder, into a position that holds alot of power and influence. But from my experience, they can be found in small, really insignificant places of employment as well. This is where the low class ones thrive and get to exert some influence, even if there is no oppurtunity to really move up in the company. They get to be grandiose in a smaller sense. They come into a place of employment, ingratiate themselves and become a nuisance, specifically to certain people not necessarily everybody. And they don't portray the same "self" to everyone. So while they might be overbearing and ingratiating to specific targets they wont invade the space of other coworkers as readily.
My experience with this individual was very traumatizing because I feel like he kind of brainwashed me into thinking badly of other coworkers. He was also very passive aggressive so if he had an issue he would always come to me to complain but he wouldn't go to the actual target of his frustration. He was also very meanspirited but I'm probably the only one who knew this because of his passive aggressive approach. I also realized that he had a very self-loathing personality which can be dangerous, especially if the confidante/target starts to develop a voice of their own and starts to pull away from the psychopath. Boy was it a nightmare situation. One day I finally just blew up on him in the workplace. Something inside of me just snapped and I hated him in that moment.
