Moving out in January

My lease application got accepted yesterday and I've put in the rent and deposit. So it's official :)

I'm quite excited, also a bit nervous since this is unknown territory for me. I've got a lot to do in the few next two weeks, but I think it'll be a great lesson for me to learn to really value (or devalue, in some cases) what I have, what I don't, what is necessary, and what I take for granted.

I also just want to thank all of you for helping me find courage and inspiration to do this "on my own", so to speak. Reading what some of you have gone through, the tough conditions, and tougher people, has really helped me come a long way in taking initiative. It's always so easy to think I have things figured out only to go through with plans or change direction to something easier when problems become more complicated than expected. Seeing others doing things I make petty excuses for avoiding in much worse external circumstances challenges my laziness and lethargy and that friction has helped me to be aware of their programs more so that I can change the habits associated with them better. Don't know where I'd be today without this forum :hug2:

I'll be quite busy getting my affairs in order over the next couple weeks, and will have limited Internet access as well for a month or two (at least) after, but I'll try to least share some updates as I go along.

Saieden, sounds grand :D ... Best Wishes & Success to You, Dear Friend :wizard:

(... and watch out for that falling ice ... sheeesh!) Safe Journey :scooter:  :hug2:

I can feel the exhilaration in your post. Durn, makes me want to pull up stakes too! Great job and good luck with the new venue.

Thanks everyone!

I got the keys yesterday afternoon, and I'll be moving on Friday. Speaking to the agent yesterday, she said the area is really safe, so much so that my on-property neighbors don't even use their garage; they just park outside. Not that it's any reason to not be vigilant, but it's nice knowing the odds are lower than average. She also said there were other applicants and that I was the only that met the criteria, which is probably because I have no binding debt or bad record of late payments, and very few monthly accounts. So it would seem that paying in advance really does work, even in the simplest interpretation: pay cash upfront.

Thank you, SeekinTruth and Zadius Sky :)

Just an update, I'm pretty much settled in for the most part now, it's now mainly about reworking everyday logistics. So far it seems there is very few sources for any paleo-grade meat (and none for eggs) at all nearby. It is really nice and quiet here, though I guess it would've been more or less the same if I my parents weren't there in my old place lol.

It's still gonna take a while to get into a new flow as I have many more daily responsibilities now that I never really had to worry much about before. For instance, I've observed myself get distracted by cleaning and tidying up small things, which is one of my mom's most compulsive habits (I literally had to stand in the doorway of my SISTER's kitchen on Christmas so that we could actually get around to eating). Practicing to remember to do things like that at a better time later as I notice them rather than stopping what I'm doing to take of it 'in case I forget' I think will necessary to conserve energy (the mental "nagging" of untidiness) and time (I've found doing similar tasks in bursts goes much quicker).
