I saw the "picture of the day" which was a Mr. Fish comic. I let google to the finding and came across

http://www.harpers.org/Cartoon.html

which contains a whole bunch more of his cartoons.

I guarantee that if you start at the top and keep reading two things will happen, first somewhere in your reading you will laugh out loud and second, somewhere in your reading you will be deeply offended. Occasionally both at the same time...

The man has a razor sharp wit...

You're right about the laughs -- at least a half a dozen times, laughs squirted out of me like toothpaste from a tube squeezed in the middle by a three-year old. Thanks for the laughs.

But why do you think someone would necessarily be offended as well?

For example, some cartoons I didn't find particularly funny, but they didn't offend me.

I don't think that someone would necessarily be offended, but he clearly does not have any sacred cows and someone still hanging on to their own special pet cow might take offense. As an example, his "Christ" cartoons made me laugh, made me think and due to my background and upbringing also managed to make me uncomfortable.

Clearly he makes you think.

To me some are really funny, and some I don't think were meant to be funny like those depicting certain gruesome realities of death etc, but just meant to make a point (and that they do very well!).
