Mr. Nobody
In the year 2092, a time when Mars is a vacation spot, Nemo Nobody is a 117-year-old man who is the last mortal among humans, who have become immortal due to scientific advances involving the perpetual rejuvenation of telomeres.[2] When Nemo is on his deathbed, he reviews the three possible existences and marriages he might have experienced, with Anna (the daughter of his mother's lover; the latter is upset after Nemo has sex with the man's daughter, Nemo's "step-sister") , Elise (with Borderline Disorder) and Jean, with up to three children.[3] References to the big bang theory, the nature of time, superstring theory and memory help structure the plot.

Nemo Nobody leads an ordinary existence at his wife's side, Elise, and their 3 children until the day when reality skids and he wakes up as an old man in the year 2092. At 120, Mr. Nobody is both the oldest man in the world and the last mortal of a new mankind where nobody dies anymore. But that doesn't seem to interest or bother him very much. The only questions that preoccupy him in the present is whether he lived the right life for himself, loved the woman whom he was supposed to love, and had the children whom he was meant to have... now his purpose is to find the right answer.
Mr. Nobody is one of the best movies I've ever seen about the question of the right decision in ones own life and to which consequences these decisions lead. It shows how little causally determined circumstances can change your life either in a fantastic way but also in a horrible way into a life of pure chaos and destruction.

It is not only a movie about love but also about the nature of time, different possible time lines and about true happiness and integrity in ones life.

I really liked this film as well for many reasons, except for the end which really disappointed me.

If I was interpreting it correctly, then it seemed to me that the director was saying that life is too confusing and that crawling backwards into the womb was a desirable solution while painful experience evaporated from the soul.

That stuck in my craw.

It seemed to me an apt example of how very smart people with lots of knowledge and artistic ability can still, even after learning so much, choose to embrace nihilism.

I only discovered this movie fairly recently and it became a favorite. I don't know if I was disappointed in the ending as much as confused.

Thank you Stranger for starting the thread.

I watched this movie twice in last 2 weeks. Very impressive script and the story based on complex topics which makes it difficult for common man to understand so easily.

As the story goes, A old man looks back, he finds many pasts based on different decisions he makes in life ( Similar to recent Laura's information theory video's). Interesting topics includes big crunch ( like wave ), concept of architect, his communication to his past asking him to hang on to a specific date, asteroid hitting their mars transit center, The characters repeating itself irrespective of the decisions, 5D decision making ( reminded me of stories from 'Life between Life' - bardo concept ,emotional intensive events happens to different people different times depending up on the branch he is looking at), steaminess of his love to one character( reminded me the novel 'Replay').

I found it difficult to understand in the first pass, as all the branched past scene's are interspersed like in 'Cloud Atlas'. When confused interviewer of old man asks him 'which life is correct', he says "every life is correct"( reminded C's ).

Acting is very good. Lead actor Jared Leto acting as old man, multiple young man characters is very good ( btw he got oscar this year) and sarah polley's depressive housewife character acting can make you depressive too. Very nice movie.

Yes! this is a great movie!

I saw it last year because a friend recommended it when I told him how much I liked Cloud Atlas. People seem to compare both this movies a lot, but for me Cloud Atlas has very different approach.

I think Mr. Nobody gives a lot of importance to decision making and how our choices can change our reality and lives completely. In context with the information theory as it is explained by Laura, it seems that this movie is a good way to have an idea about how choices create a different time-line, so to say, and different realities that get kind of intersected with one another.

Yes, the focus of both movies are different. 'cloud atlas' portrays events as linear in time , when decisions change, every thing changes in a instant both in past and present. But in 'Mr. Nobody', things happen like in a branches ( at the same calendar time, different events in different branches )as a cumulative direction changes based on simple thoughts from recapitulation like 'why is this happened?' , 'Let's roll back' , 'I shouldn't have said this or that' etc.

I felt that same.

I really liked this movie, and have seen it a few times since it's release. It is interesting to think of it now after the release of the information theory videos.
