oguz - is this the same music that was already discussed here - and ended up in baked noodles?

Thanks for starting this thread Mada85, as someone who really enjoys music for relaxation, I can't wait to know a few more musicians
Here are some of my favorites:

I love Stephan Micus work, pretty much all of it. He is a composer and musician who, inspired by world music, creates several of his instruments. The result is very interesting.
Here is an example (they all have a world music flavour)

For a more Indian taste, Sheila Shandra:

Love Ryuchi Sakamoto!

I have a CD from him (Morelenbaum2) that I usually play in my classes, a collaboration with a Brazilian singer, and everyone loves it, and indeed, I think it is absolutely beautiful!

well, if you understand Portuguese (Brazilian in this case) it is more interesting, of course. The lyrics are beautiful

René Aubry:

Also enjoy Harold Budd and Brian Eno.
As for classical, I usually tend to go for Debussy and Chopin. I just listened to Bach Goldberg variations and really enjoyed it, thanks Mada!

There is also world music. The most common in a CD shop being oriental influenced, nevertheless, there is quite a lot of good things out there from all around the world

Trevrizent asked for some recommendations for soothing music. As there isn’t a dedicated thread for this I thought I’d start one.

There was actually a thread about it (called "Soul calming music"). I merged it with this one.

Some one recently recommended the album 'Blue Horse' by The Be Too Tanyas to me that I've found really enjoyable and relaxing. They are a country/bluegrass band with a nice slow feel type of music. This particular album features as a guest singer Jolie Holland who is one of my favorite female vocalists, at least from her album 'Escondida'.

Sheila Chandra's music is some of my favourite.

Also, I was just re-listening to Keith Jarrett's live "Koln Concert" 1975 recording-- it's still fabulous after all these years. Since I really didn't know much about him, I looked up his entry in wikipedia (realizing it's not always accurate), and read that he is a follower of Gurdjieff, and even recorded an album of Gurdjieff's compositions, "Sacred Hymns," although I've never heard it (maybe someone else could speak about that?). It's incredible how he has been able to improvise such beautiful music in front of live audiences.

Hello, Oguz (and everyone)!

Do you have Puzuzu's cd? I've been hunting it for ages... no success.

I remember all his songs when they were available at the (deceased) _www.mp3.com... oh, those are the best music for meditation I've ever heard in my life... I never had listened such a powerful cosmic music like that...

If you have that album, would you mind posting a link for download? Or maybe send me by e-mail?

I'll be eternally greatful to you for that, I tell you. :flowers:

Best wishes to all.

Hi Akasha Sananda. Welcome to the forum. Are you referring to the music oguz was talking about here:

BTW, it's customary to stop into the Newbies area and introduce yourself. You don't have to give out any personal info, just tell us how you found the forum and if you're familiar with Laura's Wave series...stuff like that. Thanks! :)

Personal messaging is not encouraged on this forum for the safety of members, beside that the topic is from 2009, but I think Tigersoaps advice sounds very reasonable in case of copyright issues :).
