Happy Winter Solstice Everyone!!

For the occasion I would like to share with you all the song I recently finished. It's not so Solstice oriented, but definitely Work oriented, and maybe appropriate for listening to on the 21st. Of course, personal taste could be a factor in that, but this is a pretty relaxing tune.

Enjoy!

It’s the Time

Well it’s the time to see the things that you’re doing, hear what you’re saying,
And decide if it makes any sense.
All the things that you’re feeling, emotions are reeling,
It’s the time to choose a side of the fence.
Harmony is reached in a way
You’ll never learn by sleeping your life away.

Because it’s in front of your face doesn’t mean it’s real.
Because you can’t put your finger on it doesn’t mean that it’s not there.

Well it’s the time to look at all that surrounds you, see what confounds you
And try to sort it out for yourself.
All the things that confuse you, potentially bruise you,
It’s the time to take them down from the shelf.
Verity is touched in a way
You’ll never know by hiding it all away.

Because it’s in front of your face doesn’t mean it’s real.
Because you can’t put your finger on it doesn’t mean that it’s not there.

Edit: Added the lyrics

Hi moca, happy winter solsticio to you. Your song sound to me like children song, "british invation" of the sixties and reggae all very well mixed like a very nice song.

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone. It's always fun to hear that some people have liked it.

That's funny, because one of my friends gave me the advice of writing the horns like I was writing for a children's song, keeping it really simple. I guess I did it.

I love this one. Thank you. Am i allowed to share this link on facebook?

Well, it's a song with a good message so... why not? Go right ahead!

Greeting Mocachapeau
Your song is soft and nice to listen. He floats a real atmosphere of peace, of opening there.
Personnaly, when I listen to it, I think of John Lennon. Even if there is a side more "Raeggae"!

Mocachapeau, do you take requests? If you do, could you please make a "sad" song? Lately I'm finding "sad" music puts me in the right emotional mood for contemplation. Certain "sad" chord progressions stimulate the compassion(vagal?) "nerve", I think.

With beautiful, mournful vocals! :)

Also, don't worry too much about making the lyrics dictate the Work...I'm not too particular about that, since the Work takes many forms, e.g. even a song about tulips could contribute to one's growth? I guess what I'm saying is, let the words run freer, spanning a wider context, and see what happens. ;)

Hi Muxel, I'm curious about what reading you've done from the recommended reading list? Have you read the Gurdjieff material yet? I've noticed that you tend to make statements that indicate that you might not actually understand what you think you understand, so it would be helpful to know where you are with the reading and background material.

Hi Mocachapeau:

Thank you for the song - it's bright and cheery and fun to listen to, and the words say a lot about how to respond to our times without preaching or dictating how to respond. Much more effective in getting the message that way I think.

Thank you.

Hi anart, I know you asked me to start reading the Narcissism books but due to financial constraints I haven't bought them. I'm currently reading Op Trojan Horse (online), and I ordered ISOTM a few days ago based on advice given here. The book I really really want to get is SHOTW. The college library has a couple of the recommended books (though none of the Narcissism ones), so I'll be going there.

Going Paleo has really freed up my budget though (my alleged part-time job is a post I will save for my Swamp thread). I hope to be able to start buying books in the near future. And in the meantime, I'll try to stop giving out wrong advice. :headbash:

Well, I just write about the things that inspire me, and for the last couple of years the subject of waking up, and The Work, have been what occupies my mind almost all the time. But I happen to have started working on something that might qualify as 'sad', and I'll share it when it's done as I always do. But that could take a while.

I was thinking about some of Bob Marley's songs when I did this one. "Buffalo Soldier" is about slavery and war, but it's a great fun tune. And "One Love" is about peace and unity but doesn't sound preachy. I think that has something to do with the Reggae style, itself. I was hoping to capture a similar kind of spirit.
