My Life Sucking O.P. at Work

Where I work.
A new boss dude was hired some time back.
People are now quitting work that have worked here for decades.
I mean worked here for decades.
Quitting over personal chemistry problems.
Simply amazing how one O.P. can disrupt an organization.
/endquote

I am very professional with this fellow.
Must be very careful.
He is a shark working a crowded beach.
He is coldly calculating and what I call a blatent people user.
I have felt something strange in the way we make eye contact.
Besides, I just don't plain like the guy.
He can't touch me, and I must keep up my guard.

Update: August 2006...
Since November, this fellow has fired two(2) people where I thought firing would take an act of congress.
Good hardworking people, so I thought anyway.
They were good at their jobs, (a fact).
They didn't like their boss, (they spoke more colorfully of the boss than I do).
That little petty tyrant took these employees to the edge and they lost control.
They were fired for insubordination...
Life goes on, right?

Now, I get weird.
Yesterday, leaving work to go home, I was walking down the hallway, going by this fellow's office, his door was open, and I heard him on the phone saying to someone:

"You know these people have emotions. I feel them, and I know you can too."

What the hell was that?
What IS that supposed to mean?
What kind of conversation would prompt someone say that comment to another?
What am I to think?
If I never had heard of this O.P. schtuff, I would've just ignored those comments.
Blew them off...
But I know what I think I know, now.
Still researching, but I have my suspicions.
For me: Truth validates itself as events unfold.

What if...
What if these O.P.s know what they are, and they are organized?
And actively recruiting.?.?.?
Anyone else out there ever think this craziness?
I gotta reach out and see what y'all think about this.
I ask myself, "Am I just paranoid or are they really out there"?

Weird. It sounds more psychopathic then OPish in my opinion. OP's don't seem to know they're different.

My boss is def an OP, i wrote about it in the below bit.

Your description of your work place brings to mind the book 'Operators and Things: The Inner Life of
a Schizophrenic' by Barbara O'Brien.

It's a fascinating book, actually, and covers what she sees in her work environment, which is 'hook operators' who strategically set up other employess in order to remove them so that they can advance. She describes the predatorial nature of it and how she began to be able to recognize these specific operators. Operators, in general, call people 'things' - and control them, well, like operators of a machine. They would goad people into doing or saying something that would result in the loss of their job.

The author actually suffered from, and experienced a spontaneous recovery from, paranoid schizophrenia - there are moments when reading it that it was hard to ignore what sounded like she was simply actually seeing 'the truth' of what goes on - as if the disease of schizophrenia allowed her to see the machinations of another dimension of beings and how they interact with humanity.

Sounds like you need to be very aware that this guy is, at the very least, a pretty effective petty tyrant, so don't let him goad you into anything.

A long study is certainly required to know if someone is a real psychopath (instead of a non psychopath displaying psychopathological traits because of education, environment,...)

However, IMO this piece of conversation could have very well happened between two psychopaths.

Sometimes I am so perplexed about these "strange" things in this world.
Can I be wrong?
Of course I can.!.!.!
Having an open mind to see what triggers an event is my attempt at understanding.
Perhaps even knowing...
Having the information is important to understanding "why" and "how".
reflect.
say perhaps, maybe.
do not predict in absolutes.
Being amused about "things" is my pressure valve.
I seem to see much craziness going on this BBM.
The terms Schizophrenic & Paranoia have indeed come to mind.
I tend not to be so clinical.
I've seen too many get so involved with the study of the mind that they lose grip of reality.
Simply for myself, I think a crazy person doesn't realize they're crazy...
I would hope...
Crazy to one may be normal to another,
I don't think this guy is a plant, but I do know he has an agenda.
Anart's description of the 'hook operators' fits.
Power & advancement are his driving forces.
He is a petty tyrant.
I've dealt with bigger, meaner, and more powerful than him.
My protection comes from past (painful) experiences, being "professional" and irrefutably factual.
KNOWLEDGE of the situation SURE DOES HELP.!.!.!
I think being able to observe him is a golden opportunity.
Amusing, educational, and a lot of "it figures" with what I've seen.
My gramma told me never jump to conclusions unless you know the WHOLE story.
Past experience has shown me when I should keep my mouth shut.
Besides, I know that silence sometimes speaks very, very loudly.

But back to my prior post...
I cannot get it outta my head...

What if these guys know what they are and are organized?

They do, they are, and they run our planet unfortunately.

Not to mention they're supported by hyperdimensional aliens with advanced technology who have manipulated our history for millenia...

yeah i think that about sums it up.

At the company I work for, there was a manager who was a full-blown psychopath at one of the Alberta stores. This guy was sexually harassing one of the female employees as well as engaging in verbal and psychological abuse of the other employees.
Finally it all came to a head. One morning, when the manager showed up for work, all of the employees walked out, and a charge of sexual harassment was laid against him and, if I recall correctly, the company as well.
Perhaps more of this kind of strategy should be employed against 'paths in management positions, and companies-like the one I work for-whose only criteria for performance is the bottom line.

After a 30 year career, I dealt with many of these people and the higher up the ladder I went, the more OPs I met. They made my life miserable and eventually drove me from my profession.

Check out my post "Dreaming of Psycopaths". I work in an environment that is saturated with psycopaths and OPs. I'm sure they are organized at the higher levels, but I think at my level it's more of an ant mentality. They know what their job is and they do it. Word of advice: don't let them know that you know.
One of the earlier posts in this thread mentioned "Operators and Things". My son gave it to me when I was reeling from a major attack at the office. Do read it.
It's not paranoia when they really are out to get you.

Luck and Love

Did you see Henry's article of Sept.11 06, "Five Years On: It's Worse Than You Think"? Henry sites Lobaczewski's work and tells us that "psychopaths recognize other psychopaths" and "psychopaths band together to achieve their common goals".
I've only started Ponerology, so I had not picked up these pieced of information. The article confirmed for me not only that, yes, they know exactly what they are doing, and no, we are not paranoid. It also explained why, even when I think I've had a reasonably stress free-day at the office, I come home exhausted and depressed.
My plan for coping includes:
Maintaining a very low profile (staying in my cubicle as much as possible with my headset playing music which seems to block their "vibe").
Keeping my eyes wide open (supporting studied material with observation)
Leaving for my full lunch hour - going into the mountains, hiking, then sitting by a stream with Forum recommended reading. If you don't have easy mountain access, just get out.
Long walks in the evening. (This pleases my doggies immensly.
Daily review and posting to the forum.
Starting a web page about working in a psycopathic environment.

If you haven't read the article, please do so. Hope this helps.
