My old 2016's ham

The Living Force
My sister-in-law came today to have a good chat, as we are used to do each +/- 3 months.
She asked me "what about your old ham ?"

Fact is that i conserved a pack of ham in my fridge since 2016, look at the expiry date at the bottom 😅

It remains in good shape, like if i bought it today.
And as we reminded this, it gave me the idea to share this here for this week-end.

(i still wonder what they put to keep it looking nice after ... 6 years ! :umm: )

The important thing is the smell. Is the smell good? You can eat it. If not, put in the trash can. It is an important advice from a dog nose. Did you open the package? And did you do a testament before eating this ham? :-P

No i did not open it and do not plan to, it became a kind of relic in the fridge. Initially i forget about it so i figured out to make a test to see how much time it'll take before it rot/decay. I thought i would start to see the apparence of mould after a certain time ... 3 months, 6, ... a year ... then would throw it, but strangely nothing yet.

I imagine a sf story: after the big nuclear explosion,
when nothing will be left on the earth future beings land on the earth and among the rubble will see this bag with ham in it, totally edible, and they wonder what to do with it. Not only do they not know what the ham is, but why the person kept it. Perhaps these future beings will deduce that this thing would have been a kind of god for the humans, and they are right...

You're doing the right thing by keeping this ham because soon we will be eating insects and a ham will be worth its weight in gold!
