Need the network's help

Tonight, my mom called me and asked me for help with something. She didn't give a lot of details, but this is the situation.

She said she knows an Iranian grocery owner, and that one of his family members is going to be deported back to Iran on Monday. Apparently this man is afraid for his life being deported back to Iran and seeked political asylum. And the Canadian government refused him it, saying they think he's lying. He was apparently involved in some sort of political thing, that's why he's afraid for his life. (Again I'm not too sure about he details)

My mom asked me for help because my bf's father knows a lot of lawyers and deals with immigration issues. So he's going to give us a name and # for a human rights lawyer tomorrow. But I was thinking maybe it would be a good idea if the family of this man got the media involved as well? I thought if the media maybe did a story about him, the government maybe more willing to give him the asylum.

But I'm not too sure about the idea so I thought I'd ask for some advice here. Also, if anyone knows anything else that might be helpful don't hesitate to let me know.

Oh definitely, I wasn't thinking about getting personally involved at all. I was going to tell my mom to suggest it to the man.

A Good immigration lawyer will have the tools to help, and hope this is so.

After reading the very recent rhetoric from Ottawa, these are delicate times for awareness and hopefully law and truth will serve us well.

Yeah, that's already in the works. My question was more about the media thing- and I will suggest it to my mom. Was just seeing if anyone else had any other suggestions.

You were clear Deedlet, I should have been more clear about the Lawyer and tools. These people should, if they are good, use media (tools) to their clients advantage and would best be left to decide if and when, OSIT.
