Its a long time since ive been near a video camera and im looking for one that will give me the opportunity to stream live events across the internet.
Ive read that it is best to use a camera that has firewire ports out for this , which is just as well because im using a macbook and macs only like firewires in general.
The information i have read may be wrong , i cant find much on it.

So if there is any one out there who knows of a reasonable priced video camera that has the ilink , firewire , IEEE1394 port could you please let me know so i can purchase one.

Im googleed and yahoooood out , just cant find anything.

Thanks

Hi Away With The Fairys,

I would look @ Ebay for your camera it's the best place for that. As for selection camera, depending on your usage just a ordinary webcam should do the trick and it's fairly cheap...

I want it for outside use for a number of things , interviews , live events so it has to be a movable and held camera , ive been looking at ebay , but there are many , many cameras there , my eyes are sore. I need the name of a brand like a sony blah blah , or canon blah blah. Im hoping some one will know of one off hand so i can then just see if i can buy one.

What price range are you looking at? If you want a good semi-professional, or "prosumer" one, the VX2100 is excellent. However a used one in good shape still sells for around $1300. _http://www.videomaker.com/article/10189/

Panasonic has released a full 1080P HD camera for $1000, but I've never seen one in action so I can't really attest to it. _http://www.videomaker.com/article/14873/

Or if you're just looking for a good 1 chip camera, here's a comparison of four that have firewire output in the $200 - $300 range.

Well , correct me if I am wrong but as far as I know this info that FireWire is best option is based on old information.
It used to be better in times of USB 1.0. When USB 2.0 came out to market all FireWire camera prices went down.
It is true that benchmarks show better results with FireWire than USB 2.0 but Apple MACs only
USB 2.0 is also more universal so I would recommend it as a medium.
Speeds FYI:

FireWire - 400 mbits
USB 1.0 - 12 mbits
USB 2.0 - 480 mbits
USB 3.0 - 3.2 gbits (average)

So unless you want to use it for seriously professional purpose , I would not recommend firewire.
On the other hand it might be totally different in US with firewire market than it is in EU

Thanks for the responses guys , very helpful.
Ive just seen a canon xm2 , but im 350 dollars short of it at the moment.Second hand pro video camera ,can be used to make documentaries and music videos , and so on.
We havent been paid for our gig the other night and the owner of the venue seems to be dodging us , but if he gets his hand in his back pocket over the next few days , might just be in time to buy it. Otherwise as you say Drygol i can use the usb 2 these days as they are fairly fast. Thanks for the camera chart Ask_a_debtor very helpful.

thanks.
