New: India Drum Video - Hindustani Style

I just put up a second video of Indian drumming. This one is of a different style. ;)

The "Hindustani" (meaning North Indian Classical, as differentiated from the South Indian - Carnatic) style is also ancient and the instrument was the primary percussion used in esoteric music of yogis, in 'worship', in temples, with sacred dance, later on in the Mughal courts [musicians and dancers got kicked out of the temples, some forcibly 'converted'] with vocal, instrumental and dance.

Recently the Tabla drums have taken over in popularity, but this Pakhawaj was developed/evolved over many thousands of years.

There are currently a few hundred players in India, and about 20 foreigners who have studied.
It requires about minimum 20 years study/practice to reach a reasonably professional level (including much cultural study).

See video here: [click on "watch in higher quality", as was discussed here on the forum]
