New show: NewsReal with Joe & Niall

Excellent performances in NEWSREAL, guys!
We don't say every time, but you always provide superior and brilliant INTEL in these videos. Furthermore the emotional performance of the show-runners - how you cope with the insanity in this world - is also of high value, for us provides emotional support and the critically needed compassion in these dark times!

This week on NR, all signs suggest we're approaching 'D-Day' for Trump's beach landings, somewhere in or near Iran...

We had a time change last night, btw, so showtime at 4pm CET is once again 10am US Eastern.

Thanks guys. Good straight talk at the end, too.

The question of Israel who need to start realizing... Suppose the most important realization might be that they are not the chosen ones, and that is impossible, it's like pushing a rope up a hill.

I blame you, @Joe.

For some reason had thought the below was posted last night and it wasn't. My bad, so this is an update of sorts. The below was about ships like the theme of Newsreal itself. Upon seeing the news this morning on the Touksa, realized it was not the same ship as discussed below. It was the Touska, a Panamax.

Here is Centcom with noting else to do other than to shoot at a sitting duck while grabbing headlines and soundbites for Trump. Elsewhere, Trump made it sound like they shot a hole through the engine room, although they say they had targeted it (the engine room) for 6 hours

Wiki states:

On April 19, 2026, as part of the naval blockade of Iran during the 2026 Iran war, the Touska was fired upon by the destroyer USS Spruance and seized by US Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit after the vessel refused to stop in the north Arabian Sea en route to Bandar Abbas, Iran. Spruance disabled Touska’s propulsion by firing several rounds from the destroyer’s 5-inch/54-caliber Mark 45 gun into Touska’s engine room. The United States Central Command asserted that the vessel was subject to multiple warnings; including one advising the crew to evacuate the engine room, that the Touska's crew had "failed to comply with repeated warnings over a six-hour period", and released a video documenting at least part of the alleged warnings.

There is a little something played up about it all.

The below is on the upertankers that slipped through the strait:

Thanks guys for the weekly rundown, discussion and overall banter.

To add a particular, Jamarl Thomas interviews Helmer on the straight, on the tankers and Trump's up coming bear hug meeting with Xi - if it happens. The discussion was not on knowns, it took the position of looking at the unknowns.

This was from a couple of days ago, and the one thing pointed out was that an empty 2nd VLCC Supertanker (the first VLCC headed for Iraq) entered the straight and may try to exit with Xi oil. So, the unknown ahead of the meeting is what will Trump do with it if does leave the Strait holding 2 Million barrels of oil? Part of the discussion speculated that Iran might just try to fill it up to keep pumps running and for other reasons, and yet the buyer is probably China.

One thing mentioned and a reminder to self is to check these sources - Maritime papers (for the owners/industry of ships transporting on the seas and for those with goods to ship and probable ports that need to coordinate). One is the Lloyds List of London (Helmer used to write for it) and gCaptain out of the U.S. and various maritime papers out of Singapore and Greece.

Back to the supertanker:

What is CENTCOM going to do - an unknown, at least so far, and again, not sure what the VLCC will do exactly - one to watch.

Here is the direct Jamarl and Helmer YT discussion.

On the NewsReal show title, reminded me of this Dire Straits song (acoustic version):
