Some good stuff in there, but I have to point out two things here, because Bret et al. clearly have a gigantic blind spot when it comes to Jews.
First, the pearl-clutching about "muh antisemitism". Man, yes, when mobs start burning Jewish homes and killing Jews on the street, let's speak out about it. But until then, gimme-a-f*ing-break. Some guys say offensive things about Jews? Oh no! Meanwhile, Israel is slaughtering an entire population. Nuff said.
Second, this idea (or trope rather) Dreher mentions and that Bret and Heather seem to like, that Jews were excluded historically and therefore developed all the skills like talking, networking, banking etc. which just so happen to be useful in a globalized society, and that they are therefore so successful... Well, this at the very least misses the other half of the equation: that it wasn't just the gentiles who "excluded Jews", but the entire Rabbinical-Jewish religion is geared towards making sure Jews exclude themselves and alienate the rest of the world for the tribe to stay intact. Bret of all people, being an evolutionary psychologist and all, should understand that. Also, assuming it's true that Jews developed this skill-set that makes them so successful in the globalized world, why wouldn't they, because of that, also make sure that the world in fact becomes a globalized, unrooted world? Such things are a two-way street, you know.
It is astonishing how much we are still in the grip of this totally irrational fear of antisemitism. It's one thing for Jews to be paranoid like that, and maybe they have their reasons, but you don't help the paranoid by affirming their paranoia, you actually try to help them snap out of it. It's the same nonsense as with the idea that if someone says something mean about black people, we're gonna have a black genocide the next day. This is an irrational, fear- and trauma-driven response that shouldn't be allowed to spread uncritically.
