Noah

Well, at least they improved the trailer! Not that that changes the reviews, unless plenty of $$$ changes hands, but at with an acceptable trailer it can be released and forgotten in the theaters in a couple of weeks. A good idea would be selling it to the bible belt crowd, they usually go gaga over this stuff, as long as it isn't too bad and stays within the norms of their beliefs. Then it can be promoted on Fox for the religious right, and perhaps CNN for the religious left and, if they had a couple of years, perhaps break even, not counting inflation and lost investment income. ;D Ok, that is asking for too much!

But hey, an acceptable trailer, it's a start, though it looks like the stone age timeframe, so a lack of creativity, which usually points to an average at bests screenplay, direction and acting, as the cast is most likely bored to death with the script they are asked to perform. Aye, Hollywood, it ain't what it used to be.... not that it ever really was, but the tinsel is really getting dingy as if it came straight out of the Hotel California set. ;)

You're not far off on the bible belt comment. Quite a few 'born-again Christians' here in GA/SC expressed great interest in the film prior to it's release, and they were rather hoping it stayed true to the book, so to speak. ;)

I'm curious how the fireballs were tied into the rest of the film, has anyone seen it yet?

SOTT French recently carried an article about that movie:

http://fr.sott.net/article/20311-Le-film-Noe-est-produit-par-un-ex-trafiquant-d-armes-israelien

For those who don't speak French, the article basically says that this film is produced (through the company New Regency) by Arnon Milchan, a former arms dealer and secret agent for Israel. These facts were actually confirmed by Milchan himself in a documentary. He recently celebrated his Oscar for the movie 12 Years A Slave with all his Hollywood friends. Benjamin Netanyahou was the guest of honour. He is also a long-term friend of Shimon Peres.

Aronofsky has a way with the visual aspect of a movie but unfortunately, he almost always portrays people who are broken, crazy, obsessive or addicted. It's usually pretty depressing. For those who have seen it, is Noah any different?

His credentials are big door openers in Hollywood. No wonder he's done so well in the movie biz. A real live zio action figure can open just about any door in that town.

Its not released yet - March 28th in the US theaters. No matter the vacuous predictability of the plot, I expect it will financially succeed on big name stars and thrilling special effects... and milking the true believer goyim market. The trailer I viewed was pretty impressive with the CGI.

Well that tells me one thing: I will not support this movie by giving them money or credit in any form...

Just my point of view...

Thanks for the article, and brief summary Mrs. Tigersoap!

Ditto Pashalis!

I've seen it. Pretty dissapointed with it. But I'm not gonna spoil it. If you want a piece of plot, check the Bible. Not too far, but a bit fantastic?

Yikes, also just saw it. Had avoided reading about it to avoid spoilers. Thought it would be a 'cataclysmic treat' and a modern interpretation of the story (saw a headline that this would not make bible people happy, and allowed myself to get a bit excited). Spoiler bit: Nothing modern about the movie except for the CGI; the story is trite monotheistic/ zio drivel, with fallen angels as slightly frustrated but eventually helpful rock demons

As if the story in the Bible wasn't fantastic enough? ;) :P

Yeah, this is about as close as I'm going to get to watching it.

Thanks for the reviews!

I heard the movie was pretty bad and didn't really have anything to do with Biblical times. I saw the trailer and that sort of was all I needed to see.

I saw it last night. Whew... or meh. I wonder what Russell Crowe and Anthony Hopkins were paid to participate in this turkey? Must have been a lot.
