While I agree that their choice of names for their conference is unfortunate (and hysterically funny) the majority of these folks are good people who want to "do something" .... they just don't know what to do. On the whole, they're intelligent, caring people at the point where they can see all that is wrong in the world, and still believe they can "fix it" somehow. I can remember when I still believed we had a chance to change the world without massive death and destruction...a little one....but still a chance. It's a desire that dies hard.
I don't know Galen except by reputation (he's on the West Coast) but over the years it appears he's tried everything he can think of to wake people up ...at great cost to himself. Rainbows want to be "awake and aware" too and are searching for answers in the dark.
I think the FOTCM has much more in common with some of the Rainbows than you might know. They try to focus on changing themselves through study and supportive, reflective interactions with others. Detox and healthy living are emphasized. Many of them would make great allies, perhaps even co-workers, because we essentially want the same thing for humanity. They have one heck of a network already in place...who knows what could happen IF we had the time.
Added: it is kind of discouraging to see that this Galen fellow is so out of touch with reality that he actually thinks that "vision sharing sessions" and "playshops" and so on are going to help at this point in the global situation. Also, that he has been seduced by the South American "spiritual meme" doesn't bode well either. It reminds me of the alien groupies on the top of the skyscraper in the movie "Independence Day" waving their welcome signs.

The biggest problem I ever had with the Rainbows was their unwillingness to openly confront predation within the community. There's a general belief that some people do evil things because they're not given enough love and kindness. Many Rainbows truly believe that if they surround themselves with "white light" and "positive energy" that they will be safe from psychopaths, but I've watched that attitude slowly change over the years...basically because it hasn't worked.
I think at least some of them are ready to admit there has to be another way.

I just took a quick look at what he's promoting, and a lot of these workshops are what some event organizers call "Woobieshops"
They're designed for people who've spent their entire lives believing their purpose in life is to get up each morning, go to work, come home, spend some "quality time" with their 2.4 kids in front of the TV, go to bed, then get up and do it all over again the next day. If they work real hard, maybe they can afford to go to Disneyland once a year. They're trained, for generations, to conform to their slave status.
As you know, you can't just throw them into the deep end when they first begin to realize there may be something else to life. If you do, they just retreat back into what they know. Gatherings like Galen's are like spoon feeding a baby something soft and mushy because that's what they can handle. All you can do is hope that it helps them grow to the point they are ready for solid food.
