To be perfectly honest I have hesitated in regards to EE. I watched the videos and read everything I could find on EE but did not do it because my own practices in tai chi used pipe breathing and involved completely filling the lungs and emptying them as in EE, and I also do mediation. So I hesitated.

Well my parents have just gone home after spending 12 days with me here in Japan. As a result of self-observation I noticed many unconscious nervous habits and recalled similar actions throughout my life and so I asked my mother when and in what circumstances they started. She told me that it was after my grandfather passed away.

I clearly remember his passing. He lived in another city so when he died my parents left me with some neighbors and went to the funeral, my father telling me very simply what had happened and my mother too upset to talk. But you see I was extremely close to him. We are also very similar physically and emotionally. I did not mourn at all and did not understand. From that very day I started developing phobias. I also developed various nervous habits (noises, actions) which then led to being bullied at school until the end of high school and this also strongly affected my my whole outlook and attitude to life.

So I see his death as being a crux around which my personality developed. Negativity, paranoia, anxiety, fear, etc.

I can only see the need to work through the trauma of this past event if I am to have any progress in my battle with my false personality.

Looking at the EE data I can see many people said that it freed them from past traumas. Would I be correct in thinking that EE is the best way to go in working through this? My tai chi and mediation have never brought any emotional release as is mentioned on the EE pages.

SO I think it is time for me to start EE.

Also, if anyone else wants to comment in regards to what I am seeing in this situation then please do, I really really want to work through this whatever it takes. I can see no other way forward as I STILL manifest similar nervous behaviors and I can see so many related issues.

Thank you for listening.

I was not sure if this was the right place to mention this but I could not find a section titled "EE".

Yes, EE is certainly one way of working through trauma, in a gentle manner, consistent with the progress that your body wants to take you through it. You may also like to look at the Redirect thread, and consider doing the Pennebaker writing exercise. In addition, there is Levine's work on how the body releases trauma, there are quotes from his books (3), if you do a search on the forum, each book contains suggested exercises to follow from a somatic perspective.

There is a whole thread dedicated to people's experiences with EE - go to main page and click on Fellowship of the Cosmic Mind (Public), there you will find the thread Eiriu-Eolas Breathing Programme.

This may help, or not.

can you give me a link to the pennebaker stuff? I can't find it with Search. What is the thread title?

Agree with what Prodigal Son has just mentioned. Against your other practice, why not start it as a trial, see what happens, post about it, the differences you notice between practices. Also, EE need not replace the other, it should be seen as complementary to the other things we do and it is the noticing of the feeling from deep within the personal well that are most described by others as they come to the surface, which in turn has effect elsewhere.

I agree with Prodigal Son and voyageur. EE will certainly have great beneficial effects, mind/emotion, body, and soul. For some there can be rather dramatic emotional releases, for others, gentle healing with no dramatic releases. The specific EE thread is absolutely HUGE at this point. There's also the EE specific forum on the eebreathe.com site. Just a note, read some of the other member's experiences, and it is not recommended to do the Beatha (Ba-Ha) / Bioenergetic / Round breathing more than twice a week (and not at all for certain people, such as "Bipolar," see contraindications in the video and elsewhere). Most people do the full program (with Beatha) on Mondays and Thursdays, so you can do it on those days if you want and there will probably be some around the world doing it at the same time. And you can do it without Beatha as often as you like (like every day). What also helps is pipe breathing as needed for stress, and pipe breathing and POTS (Prayer of the Soul meditation) before sleep every night. Also, if you do have big emotional releases that are overwhelming, you can cut back on the Beatha portion even more (like once a week, or skip that part for a while and then try introducing it again once a week, etc.)

The "Redirect" thread is here http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,25989.0.html

Might want to check out the other threads in the Psychology & Cognitive Science child board http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/board,74.0.html

There was also a couple of articles on SOTT about the benefits of writing exercises to redirect inner narrative referring Pennebaker's work you can use the search function to find.

:) for more specific questions you can go also to the EE Forum

http://eiriu-eolas.org/forum/

It has helped me a lot, to see how others experienced the EE program was very beneficial.
