NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — An area of Central Park is closed and being evacuated following an explosion that injured one person.

WCBS 880’s Sophia Hall reported the victim suffered a severe leg injury. The explosion happened just before 11 a.m. near 60th Street and 5th Avenue.
WCBS 880 reported the victim was with a group of three young men from the Washington, D.C., area.
“I don’t know what happened. I don’t know what happened,” one of the men told WCBS 880.
An eyewitness told CBS2 that a man was climbing a rock structure and stepped on something that “exploded.”
The NYPD is investigating what it was that exploded. A bomb-sniffing dog has gone into the rock area where the explosion took place.
Authorities are calling this a “possible amputation,” 1010 WINS reported.
The victim has been transported to Bellevue.
