over the past 3 years somethings been digging in the back of my head to research optimus prime. i love the movies but i seem to have a small obsession with optimus prime (and the hulk and wolverine lol) i dont get where it comes from but i dream about the 3 characters so often and also reenact their roles after watching the movies lol (dont judge me lol) i wonder why my subconscious is obsessed with them .. it all seemed to happen after that being or thought or whatever it was began interacting with me about orion? hmm

Not quite sure what you mean by that, could you maybe elaborate?

I think it's okay to like certain characters, but it's another thing to become obsessed with them. Perhaps it would be helpful to refrain yourself from watching movies with these characters? I've read your experience with the voice warning you about orion, and I don't see how it could be linked with your obsession with optimus prime. LIV, would you think there could be the possibility that you tend to see things, or connections, where there aren't any, and that you tend to label experiences as 'esoteric'? There's of course nothing wrong with analyzing interesting experiences and dreams, but it's also important to keep in mind to be as objective as we can be when it comes to finding a meaning behind them.

Don't wish to discourage you here, but giving thought to our way of thinking can be helpful, or so I hope! :)

anything is possible oxajil so im not throwing out what you are saying ..

sometimes i really do think im going crazy :(

just did some research and on wikipedia like eulespiegel and found out that optimus primes original name was orion pax! wow .. his story line is quite interesting ..

"Optimus Prime is usually depicted as being a member of an ancient Transformers race called the Dynasty of Primes, often receiving the title "The Last Prime" in many stories, in which he is depicted as being the last of the Primes. In the Transformers: Covenant of Primus, it was established that Optimus Prime was the last born of the original Thirteen Transformers. It was his unique spark and his inspiring reassurance that "All are One" that allowed the Primes to rally and succeed in their battle against the Chaos Bringer Unicron. When tragedy at last ended the era of the Primes and brought forth the new race of lesser descendant Transformers he alone chose to be reborn in the Well of All Sparks as one of them, that he might know them and their needs more completely. All memory of his past life gone, he took the name "Orion Pax" and sought his way like any other robot on the new world becoming Optimus Prime once more when receiving the Matrix of Leadership when Cybertron faced a new enemy in his former friend, Megatron and his army of followers, the Decepticons. This brings a Great War to their planet of Cybertron. Optimus's origins and personality can vary depending on which "universe" he's seen in. This origin is the most consistent between the various incarnations. Further differences are listed in the respective sections below." wikipedia

I don't think you're going crazy LIV! I'm just wondering whether the amount of time and energy you've spent finding connections, trying to find explanations for certain experiences (which may take a long time, as an answer to them might not be easy to find, if ever!) could be spent in a more productive way. For example, it might be more helpful to perhaps try adjusting your diet, perhaps reading books and increasing your knowledge on topics you find interesting. As Gurdjieff said, doing what 'it' (the predator) doesn't like can be helpful. What do you think? Of course that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep sharing and asking for feedback on matters that keep your mind busy, but maybe taking a different approach (in your daily life) will be beneficial for you?

I agree with Oxajil's advice, LIV -- I don't think you're going crazy either, but it may be good for you to spend some time working on how you react to things in your consciousness that seem inexplicable. There are sometimes things that catch our attention for seemingly no good reason -- they may end up being metaphorically related to something more "important", or they may be a clue to another topic that you don't see the relevance of on a conscious level; they may also be ultimately irrelevant. When something like that comes up, it may be best to make a mental note of it and file it away after you've given it due consideration. You may see a connection months or years after the fact that makes sense out of it, and you just need to be patient. The important thing is to remain objective and exercise some mental discipline, not letting it take precedence over other things that deserve your attention in the present.

That being said (and FWIW), if you're interested in the Orion Pax storyline, I understand that Alex Irvine's books are good.

Hi LIV,

Being interested (or fascinated) by some characters, whether from ancient mythology or modern mythology (movies, novels, etc) shows that a part of you connected to some aspect of that character. Most of the time it is an emotion-induced unconscious association to some aspect, which could be a pattern of behaviour or a certain way of being. Of course, when one becomes obsessed, something has gone wrong in that association, and that's something to avoid by going back to the basics and asking seeking different answers.

Very often, one can play a little game of free associations and see what is attracting (or repulsive, we can become obsessed with a "bad" aspect that relates to past traumas for example) in a certain hero/heroine. What are the main features? What is the main pattern of his/her story/life (archetype?) ? What in the real life such a character would do that we are not capable of doing? That's IMHO the best approach to use that "fascination" in a way that is conductive to knowing oneself better. It's not who the character is (a space robot doesn't exist) but what it might represent in out mind, and what it triggers, that matters really.

Hope it helps.

I think this is good advice, but the thing about my diet, i'm still working on that lol

i TOTALLY agree with you here! I think i'm bad at trying to convey my thoughts and feelings. I should not have used the word "obsessed", maybe something that has peaked my curiosty for quite sometime. I have done what you have stated here and it always turns out like you stated (seeing a connection later). I've spent all day pondering and researching optimus prime for the first time with a real intent to learn ...and .. boy.. did i learn something new. maybe thats why it has been nagging at me all of this time because i kept blowing off the need to really research it because i felt it was silly. NOw that i have, it has allowed me to solidify or justify my thoughts since i was 5 years old!! wow.. maybe now my "obsession" will end :) i've found new thoughts to ponder from this experience.

you guys are awesome at helping me put ideas into perspective!

wonderful perspective! i definitely feel that some of my attraction to these characters are a representation of some of my character traits. i definitely agree with you here.

I am not a fan of hulk or wolvwerine( not watched much either), but I like Optimus Prime instinctively. I watched it to understand the excitement my son display when he likes some thing. He used to be big fan of bumble bee and Optimus Prime. Just like any kid who thinks comics they watch are real and form opinions , he had his transformer-liking( or obsessed) years. Out of all I watched with him, If there is any character I liked, it is Optimus Prime.

Can this be any thing nearer to real situation as I understand?. C's said autonomous Machines form their own primitive consciousness and it is reasonable to assume consciousness in need of exploration divides machines STS and STO inclinations. Optimus prime represent the self-less leader of STO group and posses hidden powers, uses only when needed. If we look at the way autonomous machines taking over the jobs, soon autonomous machines don't need humans or human bosses. Then it may be a reality where machines are moderated by STO machines. This is assuming that planet needs machine's survival for its experiential purposes, else planet will clean up all.
