I suppose it's about time to chronicle the many absurd political statements and over-the-top fear mongering we see day to day. There are so many comments we see that are just staggering when you're faced with such massive idiocy.

It seems only right for Rachel Maddow to kick off this thread. Here she is claiming Russia poses a dangerous threat in shutting down the US power grid while temperatures reach extreme lows across the US:

Here's an RT segment on the topic:

Ben Swann makes a good point in the above video that the high consumption of energy poses a much more serious risk to the grid. What is amazing is how unhinged Maddow has become and they still keep her on air. She should have a segment called 'The Padded Room' where she invites Maxine Waters and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as guests.

Certifiable, and yet a coup for the network PTB as she has a following (yeah, had to look it up) - "Rachel Maddow Show landed the week’s top 3 spots with 3.89 – 3.57 million viewers" whereby she can dish out mass hysteria while providing anxiety and sleeping pills at the same time. Heck, she is paid $7m per/yr. for her efforts.

🙄

This reminds me of 9/11. When the tragedies struck, the public had been so psy-oped into thinking that bin Laden was this international mastermind terrorist that could engineer events from a cave - that many just assumed he was responsible before even the full-on Big Lies began, ie. "It must have been bin Laden!" In this case, the part of the American public still watching this dangerous idiot, Maddow (and others like her), are being primed to accept that "It must have been Russia!!" if and when any number of things go wrong - as they surely will. Never mind that all the "Russia sabotaged a power station" or "Russia hacked election computer" stories have already been retracted and disproven.

Here's one for the gallery. Trish Rogan's (Fox News) breathless setup (with a side of Russophobia) for John Bolton's pitch on why the coup in Venezuela is a good thing. Add in the selective editing. It's a text-book propaganda piece I could barely get through. :barf:

Trish's over dramatic tone of "Rogue Socialist Dictator going straight into hands of Vladimir Putin" , " Vladamir Putin is on the door outside our own hemisphere", "our own backyard", "Socialist repressive criminal Maduro" is interesting. :headbash:

Bolton is not hiding US petroleum companies interest in Venezuela or Trish about other natural resources. He discounts Russian intelligence ability to protect him, but has no problem in saying Russian hacked elections or can trip their gas pipelines.

Oh agreed, herondancer, could barely get through the opening lines of Rogan's let alone suffer through Bolton. And yes seek10, she displayed effect with her dramatic tone. Perhaps the teleprompter has emoticon promts to help her set the dramatic stage.

What was it she opens with, something about Maduro tries to cling to power. Then there is Juan Guaidó (leaving further expletives from his name) swearing 'himself' into power - wow, what a trick, and how interesting that that can be done. Of course we are told that Guaidó is backed by 'the rest of the free world' as Trish says. And, as seek10 notes, imagine that fiend Putin trying to cozy up with Maduro in "our" hemisphere. Oh my god how dare he. Then it shifts; Ambassador Bolton, welcome to the program (our program for the mind). And Mr. Bolton chimes in about the legitimate leader Juan over the illegitimate leader Maduro who demanded US consulate members pack their bags and leave. No, he can't do that as he is not the true leader, only we can make people leave. He then skirts the contingency plans to ensure American safety. Getting into John's discourse is a further exercise in futility...

Whatever this hydra truly is behind people like Billy B maneuvering all of the strings, they certainly have much of the world dancing to their extortionist tunes. Most all must come into alignment or else.

To paraphrase: 'We only have a few months, and nuking Russia isn't enough, so our only choice is to eat the babies. Please, we must eat the babies'

Now, obviously this woman is mentally ill, but people like AOC do have a role in driving this hysterical society.

Well, like attracts like. AOC had to scramble to talk the crazy down.

What was really frightening was when the gal showed her tee shirt with her slogan on it, the audience took a long time to react, even when she said bombing Russia wasn't enough to get rid of the 'too many people. I guess they thought it was some kind of hip irony, until they realized the nut job was serious.

Now, obviously this woman is mentally ill, but people like AOC do have a role in driving this hysterical society.

This woman's seriousness is disturbing, I was hoping to see a sign that it was a prank or something. She may have a mental condition but her ideas are just exaggerations of the rationales that are being promoted. She's taking AOC thought process and kicking it up a notch:

Ocasio-Cortez: It’s ‘legitimate’ to ask if OK to have children in face of climate change
...
Speaking to her 2.5 million followers on Instagram over the weekend, the progressive lawmaker parsed the question she said she hears from her younger constituents.

“There’s scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult. And it does lead young people to have a legitimate question: Is it OK to still have children?” she said.

The co-sponsor of a "Green New Deal" resolution making its way through the House and Senate, Ocasio-Cortez said time was of the essence to address how to reverse the effects of global warming within the 12-year timeline estimated by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report last fall.
"We had time when I was born, but — ticktock — nothing got done. As the youngest member of Congress, I wish we didn’t have 12 years. It’s our lungs that are going to get choked with wildfire smoke. ... Climate delayers are the new climate deniers," said the 29-year-old lawmaker said on Instagram.
...

Instead of years, months. Instead of not having babies, let's eat them. Perhaps one day AOC will be ostracized by the radical-radical left for being too soft on the war against AGW, saying it is still years in the future and refusing to eat these pernicious carbon-emitting babies.

Peter Pomerantsev with the support of Johns Hopkins University. Every link comes back, with the continued full circle disinformation campaign, (of the lie that won't die).

About this Event
We live in a world of influence operations run amok, where dark ads, psy-ops, hacks, bots, soft facts, trolls, and even world leaders seek to shape our very reality. In this surreal atmosphere created to disorient us and undermine our sense of truth, we've lost not only our grip on peace and democracy—but our very notion of what those words even mean.

Join SNF Agora Visiting Scholar Peter Pomerantsev, as he takes us to the front lines of the disinformation age with his latest book, This is not Propaganda: Adventures in the War Against Reality. Forty years after his dissident parents were pursued by the KGB, Pomerantsev finds the Kremlin re-emerging as a great propaganda power. Blending reportage, family history, and intellectual adventure, This Is Not Propaganda explores how we can reimagine our politics and ourselves when reality seems to be coming apart.

Pomerantsev is a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Institute of Global Affairs at the London School of Economics, an author, and TV producer. He studies propaganda and media development, and has testified on the challenges of information war to the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and the UK Parliament Defense Select Committee.

He writes for publications including Granta, The Atlantic, Financial Times, London Review of Books, and Politico, among others. His first book, Nothing is True and Everything is Possible, won the 2016 Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize, was nominated for the Samuel Johnson, Guardian First Book, Pushkin House, and Gordon Burns Prizes. It is translated into over a dozen languages.

'This Is Not Propaganda' will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of The Ivy Bookshop.

This talk is presented by the Stavros Niarchos Foundations Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins and The Ivy Bookshop.
