I made a first attempt to compose for a symphonic orchestra, style is inspired from japanese anime music (Especially Joe Hisaishi and Princess Mononoke). It's performed by Garritan Personal Orchestra and Sibelius 5 :) In that sense it's not Work oriented, but in a personal level this is my first song after started to Work, so i thought i'd share it here. Song is called Amaterasu (from the link you can press the play button or download the song below).

i really enjoyed that Seppo Ilmarinen. Sounds like movie soundtrack in places with lots of umph and unexpected dramatic melodic transitions.

I like it too! ;)

It reminded me of two computer games: Zelda and Landstalker.

That was great! I was particularly impressed with the variety of themes and the instrumentation. And I agree with Gawan, it reminded me of music written for some video games. It's been a long time since I've played one, but I think it is Zelda that it reminds me of.

For a first attempt at composing for an orchestra, that was incredible. It does not come across as a first attempt, at all!

Nice work!

Thank you for comments, I used to play alot of video games when younger, and Zelda has definetly been one influence in me. My biggest game music heroes are Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda, especially their work from Final Fantasy series and Chrono Trigger.

This is really cool :) You really got the zelda/final fantasy feel. I have always been a fan of the style of music in Japanese video games, there is just something so strange and interesting about it

I don't play video games but I am a Ghibli fan so - you really captured Hisaishi's sound, and you made it different and new in your own way. I liked it!

I like it. I like the harmonies and melodies you made, as well as the theme changes.
