Paris shootout, explosions, casualties

I walked this morning in the neighborhoods of Paris, and I stopped in front of the concert hall "Le Bataclan" to take pictures. It was sunny and 40 maintant already dead. Finally I don't like the Friday 13 :(

The French paper Libération reports that several people were killed in one shooting in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, an area to the north of the city. Its reporter on the scene says that there were at least two shooters who may have opened fire in a bar, before fleeing.

The paper reports that a second shooting took place at the Bataclan, a popular music venue about 15 minutes’ walk to the south.

The 10th includes the city’s main train stations: the Gare du Nord and the Gare de l’Est. The paper reports that the shootings there took place to the east of those stations, on the opposite side of the Canal Saint Martin, near Rue Bichat.

Libé adds that, almost simultaneously, three explosions were heard near Stade de France and the French President François Hollande has left.

It is not yet known if the incidents are linked.

French media are saying that a gas canister and nails were found around the stadium, and that it's the same MO as the one used for the 1995 attacks in the Paris underground, and for the Boston Marathon attacks.

Bataclan is mere blocks from the offices of Charlie Hebdo, which was attacked by gunmen in January.

"There were two really loud bangs and they were enormous," one witness told the Telegraph. "I thought it was coming from inside the stadium but someone told me later that they were grenades thrown outside at a restaurant."

There were several gunshots over five minutes, he says.
