Argyria, also called “argyria syndrome,” is a rare disorder characterized by an irreversible alteration in skin color. People who suffer from it usually have bluish or grayish skin, either all over their body or in certain regions. For many years, the cause of argyria was unknown, but today it is known to be associated with prolonged exposure to silver.
 
I think this is the easiest solution. A bit unusual to see the street performer at the airport with his make up but there's no other explanation.

Yes, there are gray people. It’s a sort of poisoning condition (don’t remember the term for it). We had one in Helsinki a few years back. In his later years he even dressed in gray. Quite the vision he was.

Bingo - except he had grey hair too.

Who'd have known such a condition existed! Next someone will tell me purple people exist too. 🤷
