The Animal You See First Reveals Your Personality Traits

This image is actually made of several pictures. Taking a few moments to look at it closely can reveal a lot about your personality traits and the way you think. Study the image before moving on (no sneaking a peek at the answers) to learn more about how what you see relates to the way your brain works.

[Don't prepare yourself, you will see the image]

Each-Animal-on-This-Pic-Reveals-Something-About-You-Which-One-Do-You-See-e1470412708936.jpg

Some items to take note of:

• Which animal or animals did you find fastest?
• How quickly were you able to identify other animals?
• How many and which animals did you find?

Personality Traits

The animals you found first offer insight into your personality traits. People have long thought that animal choices say a lot about your personality, but new scientific studies show there are differences in the personalities of people that prefer different animals. Which animal or animals your eyes were drawn to fastest in the image can reveal details about your personality.

• The Bird – If the first image you saw was the bird, you tend to have a more outgoing and expressive personality.

• The Crab – If you saw the crab first, you tend to be happier and have a better sense of humor.

• The Bird & The Crab – People who saw both images at the same time or very close together tend to be more sensitive and emotional.

• The Horse – This image usually jumps right out at people who are more independent and free-spirited.

• The Dolphin – If the dolphin was your first image, it means you are a more creative and artistic person.

• The Ducklings – This image can actually be difficult for many to find. Seeing it first means you are detailed, quieter, and more focused.

• The Bear – Seeing this growling beast means you are a natural-born leader with a strong personality.

• The Puppy – If the puppy was the first animal you saw, it means you are kind and nurturing.

This works to identify your dominant personality traits because your subconscious mind plays a role in determining which animal you see first. This is an example of convergent thinking. Psychology Today defines convergent thinking as the ability for your brain to naturally limit the choices it can think of. Convergent thinking relies on instinct and preferences, making the first item you see the one that feels most natural to you. It reflects your inner beliefs and desires.

Thinking Styles

This exercise can also uncover more about the way you think. In his book “Thinking Styles” psychologist and college professor Robert Sternberg talked about the fact that people think differently and that it affects how they learn, work, and interact with others. How quickly you identified other animals and whether you were able to see all of them can help identify your thinking style and mental agility. While the traits of the animals you saw first related to your characteristics, the way you focus on the images is related to how you think.

• Finding the bird and the crab requires focusing on contrast. If you were able to find both of them quickly, your brain processes information very quickly, and it is easier for you to spot connections and patterns.

• Seeing the horse was more difficult. Finding it at all shows an ability to stick with it and look deeper. Those that spotted it easily are intuitive, deep thinkers.

• Finding the dolphin’s image requires a different type of thinking altogether. To see it you almost have to relax your eyes. This indicates the creative, expressive thinking often attributed to the right-brain.

• Seeing the bear requires a thinker with the ability to look at the big picture and not be caught up with other details.

So what does it mean if you were able to find all seven animals? The more animals you found, the greater your ability to think divergent instead of convergent.

That sounds complicated, but divergent thinking is just the process of finding more options. If you found four or more animals in the image, you’re already well on your way to becoming a divergent thinker. Studies show that divergent, creative thinking offers many benefits. Divergent thinkers learn more easily and solve problems more creatively.

I've directly saw the bird, some years ago I've called for my totemic guide and it was this particularly type of bird (the one saw in the picture), I wasn't fond of it first because it seemed weak and too feminine, but I made it my strength eventually. Odd that I considered myself an introvert...
The one I saw almost in the same time is the horse, and despite the fact that I have some difficulties, but not failure, to accept some of my emotions, I consider my mind being relatively free, maybe a little too much in the stars.
I guessed the Dolphin, I have mistaken the bear by a lion, I struggled to see the puppy and I completely missed the ducklings and the crab.

Good one Nico! I'm on holiday visiting my family so I showed them the picture. It looks like we may be a family of outgoing people because we all saw a bird straight away. Apart from my grandma who saw a bird on a horse and me seeing the crab right after I saw the bird :)

Thanks for posting!

Thanks for sharing, Nico. Same here - first I saw the bird and then the horse. Perhaps it's just my perception, but isn't the bird objectively depicted more distinctly than other animals? And the horse seems the second most sharply seen after the bird. Both images look brighter/darker to me as compared to other ones. fwiw

I like this kind of fun tests hehe! The first thing I spotted was the horse, which is interesting cause i think it does resonate with me, it also made me think about my chinese zodiac sign, which is also a horse, so maybe it also popped out first cause I have it in some way in the back of my head.. After it was the doplhin, crab, ducklings, bird, puppy and the bear was the most difficult to find for me.

Thanky you Nico! :D

Birds are near the sky, with sharp view and good claws !

Maybe we can go deeper in the subconscious and ask for interrelation, à la Carl Jung :P ?
I am a golden horned goat if we considered the mix between lion and goat signs, which is socially at ease and goal oriented but need a good familial equilibrium to not be fooled by the quest of success. (quoting this site (in french)).

I thought about that too Siberia, so I wanted to check with others if this test was really misorienting as you said.

I couldn't see the horse until I looked for it and it took good couple of minutes. My grandma saw it straight away and to me, the bird and the crab are the most noticeable images. So I guess the animals each person sees first do differ.

However, the test description below the post says I'm a "sensitive and emotional person". When I told my mom what the test results meant she looked at me as if I asked her where I should park my unicorn. Then she said I must have been cheating when I took the test and added: "Sensitive to what exactly? Maybe gluten." I'm not sure I want to investigate what she meant further

Hah! I was straining when I first looked and couldn't make out what some of the animals were, but definitely noticed the bird first after I adjusted. And now that I look at it again the bird stands out the most for me, then came the crab, horse, bear and dolphin. I can sort of make out the ducklings but if I hadn't read that they were there I'm not sure if I would have picked up on that. And where are the puppies?!

• The Puppy – If the puppy was the first animal you saw, it means you are kind and nurturing

Maybe that's something I need to work on more and that's why I can't find them

I saw the crab quickly too, possibly because its claws contrast well against a clear background, or so it seems to me. I think it could be that people may notice different animals first, even if they generally appear less noticable, e.g. because some particular detail caught one's eye first, etc.

As for psychology, despite the fact that I like bears, I must confess that it was the last animal that I managed to find on this picture. It could be because I cannot see a body shape in this case - only the jaws - which is not enough for me to easily guess the animal. :/

Came to the same result and had similar reservations about the composite image. Furthermore, I only could distinguish the crab, the bear and the dolphin (in that particular order) after reading they should be there -- while the ducklings only appeared in vision after some serious searching, like longer than a minute or so. I never found the puppy, not even after enlarging the image over 200%.

As for you tend to have a more outgoing and expressive personality, more independent and free-spirited, and divergent thinking, I take those indications --even only as trends-- with an ample dose of salt as they don't quite match my main characteristics AFAIK.

Nevertheless, it was fun. So thanks for sharing anyway.

Saw the horse immediately, but had a bit of a hard time finding other animals. Managed to see the bird, crab and dolphin, but that's it.

That was fun, thanks for posting.

I saw immediately the bird, then the duck, then the dolphin, then the puppy. I saw the horse and the crab after reading that they were there, and I am still looking for that bear...

Oh yes, I also saw an owl, right after I saw the bird :wizard:

Bird, Dolphin, horse, in this order. Took a while to find the crab, and still searching for the puppy

The bird really seems to stand out and I have a hard time seeing the other animals. I thought it was the way the image was constructed but looks like other people see it differently, quite interesting!
