I started the process of putting the tree together last night and found out my tree is broken... Lesson learned: it's the last time I buy a tree that includes deco + lights. Have to run to the store this morning for new lights

Since we seem to have a bit of a kitty theme happening, I’ll add a closer pic of the bottom of our little tree. New additions this year are the basket, the string of painted wooden cranberries, and a little wooden kitten a neighbor gifted us (it’s a little difficult to see, but it’s hanging in front of the basket). Our actual cat has decided she’s no longer interested in the tree since she broke a bulb a few years back. But it’s not Christmas without her!

Here's the 2024 version.

Our tree this year is basically the same so rather then post it again I'm going to post something that was inspired by Jacques' photo... that I was going to post last year but ran out of time.

Last year I uncovered a small swath of Peanuts wrapping paper hidden between our leftovers and reusables. I'm not sure where we got it from, but I think it was a gift my sister received and we kept the paper. I'm guessing it's from the 90's but I couldn't say for sure. It wasn't in great condition- Scotch tape, rips, folds, discoloration- but there was enough clear sections that I was able to restore all the panels to an estimated original condition. The repeating panels have been arranged into three strips. I've kept the bottom strip in, which is the same as the top, so you can see how the pattern continues.

We have a varied colored lights tree and I tend to like the nostalgia of colored lights on it, but it goes to all white as well. I usually get a real poinsettia, but this year I picked up a Lego poinsettia kit and put it together on Christmas day. I haven't played with Legos in years and after a while my fingers were hurting.

Merry Christmas everyone! I really enjoyed decorating the tree this year as my son is 3 1/2 now so he understands everything much more than last year and appreciated everything we put on the tree, especially iron man, spider man and the tractor Our doggies foot print is on there too with the knitted elf.
