Hi all,

I just wanted to share a dream that I had a couple of days ago.

I was standing in my front yard and I saw a seagull. I started playing with it, I would through things up in the air. It would fly and catch them. I remember I was very excited and happy playing with it. Then my next door neighbors girlfriend came out and she was going somewhere. Right when I saw her I stopped playing with the seagull and I then walked in to my garage. After I watched her leave, I left the seagull and went inside my house. Last thing I remember from the dream was that I was looking at my digital kitchen clock and it was 9:30.

The reason why I wanted to share this dream was because about a month ago I had a weird synchronicity with a seagull that had a broken wing.

I also wanted to share something I saw a few days ago, I had dropped my brother off at his friends house and as I was driving home, I saw a seagull right in the middle of the road. I watched it for a minute or so, I noticed it had broken wing. I didn’t think much at the time so I left. About 70 minutes later I picked up my brother and at the same location there was the same bird. It was again right in the middle of road, so I watched it for a minutes again. It wouldn’t move and after I backed up my car to go around it, it moved. So I started thinking about it and I thought it was kinda of strange that the same bird was in the same location 70 min after. While driving home the thought came to me that I was that bird. That I have a broken wing and until I fix it, I can not fly with my flock (network), just like the bird. That thought made me really emotional that day. At least that’s how I saw it.

So I have a feeling that maybe that incident and this dream is somehow connected. I tried finding the message of the dream and what I came up with. Is that I might be going in the right direction now, the seagull can fly now. Assuming that is the same seagull I saw a month ago. But I have to watch out for my self importance, because it can hinder my progress. That is what happened in the dream I let my self importance get to me and I left the seagull. Now a days I am seeing my self importance/narcissistic programs a lot, I am one "me" person. Though I might be over simplifying things and making premature assumptions, so I'm not sure how accurate my dream reading is. Could be just disinfo, but any feedback is welcomed.

Did you think to help the bird?

I don't know, I've nursed a few creatures back to health. A rabbit, a bird and a cat. The cat is now named Tom and is part of the family. The baby bird was named Chip because he or she would sit on my shoulder (later released) and the rabbit (Kia) was also later released back into the wild. (they were all hit by cars).

Perhaps you wonder what happened to the seagull or maybe it represents freedom/play or 'near the ocean.' What does the girlfriend of the neighbor mean to you? Distraction? Fear? Why do you think that you stopped playing with the seagull when you saw her?

According to Dreammoods, a seagull represents:

To see seagulls in your dream, indicate a desire to get away from your problems or the demands of your walking life. You may be wasting away your potential and unused skills. Alternatively, a seagull symbolizes your strengths. You are able to cope with life's changes with grace and understanding. The dream may also be a pun on "see go" and thus indicate something that you need to let go or see go.

The seagull is associated with Lir, a Sea-God in Celtic lore. Like many birds, the seagull flies between the earth and the heavenworld, bringing messages to mortals.

Hope this helps. Dawn came up with good questions to ask yourself. Maybe you can piece together the significance a bit better now.

Yes I did think about helping the bird and thought about calling animal control, but forgot to do so. :-[

I'm not sure what the seagull means to me, I think I might have done some wishful thinking when I connected the dream and that other incident. I think freedom might be a good point, as I am having a hard time living with my parents and trying to work on myself at the same time. Ive already made the decision to move out, I just need get things in order before I can.

In real life I have no relationship with the neighbors girlfriend, other then just saying hi. I think she symbolized distraction, as I still get distracted by non work related things.

The main reason why I think I stopped playing with the seagull is probably due to my self importance, maybe in the dream I was afraid of looking like a weirdo in front of her? I would say that my self importance is pretty big. I'm pretty sure that was one of the messages in the dream, to work on my self importance.

I found this interesting, I have always had the desire to run away from my problems. I think the dream might have had a message, but I'm not really seeing it. Thanks for the help Dawn and DanielS. Sorry for the late response, brain fog been getting to me.
