Hello.

I don't know who chose to put an AI-generated fake image in this article on SOTT Fr :

...but in my opinion it's a REALLY BAD IDEA ! Here we're looking for Truth, not fake pictures.

(It's so poorly done, with some fake people, a fake lighning, and, well, everything fake too. Seriously ?
:lol:
)

There are enough of shocking real pictures of Mayotte now. Why creating a fake ?
And this AI-gen image was not present in the source article, so some SOTT editor chose it.

I agree. I removed it and notified the person who posted it.

ai images are fakery. this is why i IGNORE EVERY ai image. their information content is NIL. every ai image MUST be explicitely mentioned as such. if not, this world will dissolve in fake climate, fake news, fake science, fake medecine, everything might become fake. and a fake world has no justification for existence and deserves disparition. you shall not lie. and this honesty applies to EVERYONE.

Lately I have been getting the sense that AI image generation will slowly loose it's allure. I feel like people were really fascinated by the new shiny object but that kind of dissipated.

Going back to the main topic of this article, I used to see some news sources really lean into AI images for a few months in their articles, and it still happens from time to time, but little by little they all went back to actual photography, and perhaps what they realized is that no matter the level of fidelity, human beings can tell the difference and the immediate assumption is that the news item must be false.
