The Living Force
I deeply appreciate the additional information, Bjorn and Beau. I have a personal interest in Archaeology and given the opportunity and choice, especially in my earlier years, I would have devoted my time - in field research. Unfortunately, life took a different turn.
I was not acquainted with Dr. al-Assad or his work in Palmyra but his dedication is evident, beyond a doubt. And I highly admire him, for his resolve and fortitude, even in death. Many artifacts are like time capsules, holding energy and imprinting, encoding a certain timeline in the Earth's past. Structure, size and composition are like DNA and offer future generations, an opportunity to learn from them. Just like we document things of importance now, artifacts are precious time stamps. They were never meant to be horded away in private collections but are an offering to humanity, to learn from the past.
Which brings me to this, in a link Beau provided.
Interesting reference to Genghis Khan - King of Kings and his inability to acquire artifacts and conquer Palmyra, even after repeated assaults.
Is Palmyra on a powerful vortex, connected to the Earth's grid? Could Palmyra's location, due to it's continuous and periodic spiritual dedications, as noted in the link "as a place of ancient mediation, home to Christianity under Emperor Justinian (527-65) when churches were restored, then Islam under General Khalid ibn al-Walid" be considered the true "Holy of the Holies" and not located in Jerusalem as previous thought? Vivid speculation, on my part but then again, what were the treasures and artifacts that Dr. al-Assad protected, even unto death, as Guardian of Palmyra?
In the quote below from the article, ISIS destruction of the Temples in Palmyra, sounds like "a repeat" of what the Babylonian army did to destroy Temple's after they seized Jerusalem?
The date that Dr. al-Assad was assassinated, August 18th and Genghis Khan death on the same month and day, 1162-18th August 1227. Are these dates the originator of deaths of destruction - such as 911 and other events that have occurred on that date and other configurations with "11" in the date, such as Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster on 11 March 2011?
I know - much speculation on my part?

Dr al-Assad, seeped in his love for Palmyra, who died for defending it had named his daughter after Zenobia, the third century Queen of the Palmyrene Empire, who led a revolt against the Roman Empire.
Many have written that Iraq and Syria’s glorious archaeology survived even Genghis Khan’s repeated assaults on the region but not the US and it’s terrorist beneficiaries. Genghis Khan (“Supreme Khan of the Mongols, King of Kings”) lived between 1162-18th August 1227.
The 18th August was when Dr. al-Assad was so appallingly murdered nearly eight hundred years later. A supreme, terrible irony – or something more sinister?

IS seized Palmyra, “The Venice of the Sands”, in May. In June they were reported to have destroyed the 1,900 year old Lion of al-Lat statue, the five centuries old shrine of Sufi scholar Nizar Abu Bahaa Eddine and that of Mohammed bin Ali, descendent of a cousin of the Prophet.
