Preparing food reserves

I've been thinking a few days in the matter of preparing food reserves. I have not done it yet but I will soon. What would be the most propitious food and last longer time?

I think that if you prepare it properly, it will last indefinitely. For instance, if you have a canner, you can get meat in bulk size for a good discount and then can it. It will last indefinitely. I noticed the other day that presto canning pressure cooker was almost half the prize in amazon.com. 70 dollars or something like that, and they have international shipping. FWIW.
