I've heard conflicting reports from Bulgarians and Romanians about how the general population is not following the politicians and media memes. There was widespread anger and a big backlash on a Bulgarian forum when they cancelled the South Stream pipeline, so who knows. But I do get the feeling that Poland and the Baltic states are the most rabid anti-Russians, including large numbers of the general population, not just the politicians and media.
My thought exactly. Until they understand (intellectually AND emotionally) that Poland would most likely ceased to exist in the 40's for God knows how many decades if not for USSR crushing the Nazis, nothing significant is going to change. And I have an uneasy feeling that they may come to pay dearly for their sacred cow, the core, or base, of their very identity. I don't know what needs to happen to divert the train before it's too late. The only thing that comes to mind is a complete change of the ruling gang to those who understand geopolitics and look farther than their pockets, and slowly, step by step, build another reality. But before that comes true, Poland would become a scene of another "color revolution". :(
I'd be happy to be proved wrong!
