The program, titled "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin." focuses on Putin's work to address issues facing the country, as well as his outreach efforts to ordinary citizens, The Associated Press reported.

The first episode included an interview with Putin's spokesman, and a segment on the Russian leader's hiking trip last month.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the government did not commission the TV show, and insisted the program was handled in a balanced fashion, the AP reported.

According to the AP, the weekly program is seen as a new front for Russian state-owned television, despite efforts from the Kremlin to exert control over broadcast media since Putin took office.

Russia has faced widespread criticism for infringing on press freedom under Putin, and dozens of journalists have been killed or gone missing in recent years.

Three Russian journalists were killed last month in the Central African Republic as they were looking into mercenaries with connections to the Kremlin.

The U.S. State Department in July condemned a bill from the Russian legislature which would require individual journalists to register as foreign agents. The State Department suggested the legislation was meant as a retaliatory tool.

MOSCOW — A Russian state-owned television channel has a new weekly current affairs program devoted to President Vladimir Putin.

The first episode of “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin.” aired on Sunday night, stressing the Russian president’s work to address various crises and stay in touch with ordinary Russians.

The Kremlin has consolidated its control over television stations since Putin came into office in 2000, and Putin’s activities traditionally receive wide coverage on news programs on state television. Still, a weekly show devoted to news events as seen through the work of Putin is something new for Russia.

The hour-long program on Rossiya 1 featured interviews with Putin’s spokesman and the Kremlin pool reporter who covered the president’s activities last week, as well as a segment about Putin’s break in the mountains last month.

Quizzed by the show’s host about Putin’s recent meeting with gifted children and his supposed love for the youth, his spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “Putin loves not only children, he loves people in general. He’s a very humane person.”

The Russian leader’s approval ratings sharply declined in July after the government proposed raising the ages for pension eligibility the previous month.

Speaking to reporters on Monday afternoon Peskov insisted that the Kremlin did not commission the TV show, and that it was the channel’s own idea. He added that the program was done in a balanced manner.

Vladimir Putin took a Russian-made luxury car for a spin around an F1 track in his latest testosterone-charged photo opportunity.

Russia’s president drove his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi, around the Sochi Autodrom.

El-Sisi, on an official visit to Russia, sat in the passenger seat as Putin showed him what the limousine's 4.4-litre engine could do.

The Senat, which will become Russia's new state vehicle, can accelerate from 0-100 kilometres per hour in less than six seconds and offers an "uncompromising level of ballistic and explosive protection", according to manufacturer Aurus.

Putin is no stranger to being captured doing manly things. He’s driven a lorry across a bridge to the Crimean peninsula, flown planes and hang gliders, driven tanks, cruised around on a three-wheeled motorbike, taken up the controls of snowmobile, piloted a powerboat dressed in camouflage and shades and, perhaps most famously, been pictured bare-chested while riding a horse.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for the support during the his mega-fight title defense against Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor.
Khabib, together with his father Abdulmanap, met with Putin last Wednesday on the sidelines of the ‘Russia – Country of Sports’ forum in the city of Ulyanovsk, where the Russian president congratulated Nurmagomedov on his title defense.

Putin congratulated the undefeated UFC lightweight champion on his win, and also asked the fighter’s father not to punish his son “too strictly” for the scenes which followed after the bout, when Nurmagomedov leapt into the crowd to confront members of McGregor’s team.

Megan Kelly did another interview with Putin right after his recent state of the nation adress (the one mentioned in the last post above) which is apparently over an hour long. It is supposed to be aired this week. Hope she has learned a thing or two from her last infamously bad interview with Putin and her subsequently similarly embracing performance as the moderator of SPIEF 2017. I'm not holding my breath though.

Here is her announcement of the Interview:
_

Personal comment This is the transcript of both interviews (Part 1 and Part2) Megyn Kelly conducted with President Putin on March 1 - 2, 2018. I do not hold Megyn Kelly to any high regard, in fact, I find her - obnoxious!

In her interviews, she has a habit of mixing very personal questions into the script, which I feel is offensive and totally irreverent to the main topics being discussed. This interview with President Putin ... was no different. She has "no morals" and lacks any integrity, in my view. For one, she should have "never" mentioned President Putin's X-wife, in any context!

Megyn Kelly's sassy mouth and obnoxious high caliber attitude has finally got her in trouble! She should have been fired - on the spot after her dismal and disgusting interview with President Putin! She was a "total embarrassment" to herself and as a representative of American journalism. I hope, she gets the "mirror effect - when self - meets self" (backlash) in spades!

‘Megyn Kelly Today’ to Air Repeats This Week Amid Questions About Show’s Future

One day after she defended and then apologized for defending the use of blackface in Halloween costumes, Megyn Kelly has parted ways with CAA and hired talent litigation lawyer Bryan Freedman.

The powerhouse agency stopped representing Kelly, who hosts the 9 a.m. hour of NBC’s “Today,” on Wednesday, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap. But no reason was provided.

Reached for comment by TheWrap, Freedman, co-founder of Freedman & Taitelman, confirmed he had been retained by Kelly Wednesday night. His hiring may indicate that Kelly is headed for a legal conflict with NBC. The news follows reports earlier in the day that she and the network are discussing her exit from the show by the end of the current season.

Adding to the drama, it was also reported late Wednesday night by The Hollywood Reporter that Kelly will not appear on “Today” for the rest of the week. NBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheWrap.

On Tuesday, during a panel discussion with Melissa Rivers, Jacob Soboroff and Jenna Bush Hager, Kelly asked “What is racist?” adding “You get in trouble if you’re a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween.”

She also said it wasn’t a problem when she was growing up in the 1970s and early 1980s.

By mid-afternoon Tuesday, the NBC host sent an email to network staffers internally, apologizing for her statement.

“I realize now that such behavior is indeed wrong, and I am sorry. The history of blackface in our culture is abhorrent; the wounds too deep,” Kelly wrote. “I’ve never been a ‘pc’ kind of person — but I understand that we do need to be more sensitive in this day and age. Particularly on race and ethnicity issues which, far from being healed, have been exacerbated in our politics over the past year.”

She faced swift and broad criticism for the remarks, including from the NAACP.

“During the slave trade, some people thought it was OK to treat human beings as property and less than animals,” Malik Russell, a spokesperson for the civil rights organization, told TheWrap on Tuesday. “Maybe in Megyn Kelly’s world, offensive acts and racism are OK, but I assure you for individuals of color, blackface is always racist and never OK.”

The story was covered later that day on “NBC Nightly News.” The segment included criticism from television host Padma Lakshmi. The piece also noted Kelly’s 2013 remarks on Fox News asserting that Santa Claus was “white.”

Kelly apologized again Wednesday morning. Later that day, the Daily Beast reported that NBC News chairman Andrew Lack had condemned her remarks during a town hall with NBC employees, while the New York Times reported that Kelly and NBC are discussing her exit from “Today” by the end of the current season.

'Megyn Kelly Today' Canceled Following Blackface Controversy: Reports

The 47-year-old journalist's NBC talk show is reportedly over after she was widely criticized on Tuesday for defending using blackface in Halloween costumes. Despite her tearful on-air apology on Wednesday, a source with knowledge of the situation at NBC tells ET it looks very likely the show will not be continuing, though an official decision has not been made. Kelly's future at NBC is still up in the air, the source adds.

A second source tells ET that the network spent much of Thursday morning reaching out to staff on Kelly’s show and letting them know that they are being reassigned within different divisions of the network, with most of the staff being reassigned within the Today show. The source says the staff has not been told that the show is canceled yet.

In addition, a third source tells ET, “The staff is definitely in a bad place in that they are being kept in the dark and feel like there is no sense of leadership.”

A rep for NBC could not be reached for comment. People reports that Megyn Kelly Today has indeed been canceled.

This is insane?

Megyn Kelly's reported payout has people furious: '$69 million for thinking blackface is fine'

Kelly came under fire this week for defending the use of blackface during a panel discussion on Megyn Kelly Today, and issued an on-air apology after NBC colleague and Today host Al Roker said she owed people of color an explanation.

Kelly apparently will neither return to her 9 a.m. show nor take on a different role at NBC. “It’s clear she will not be returning to the network,” a person “with direct knowledge of the matter” told NPR.

NBC wants her gone, and talks were already underway about removing Megyn Kelly Today off from the air before this latest scandal, according to CNN. Her three-year contract is worth $69 million, and it looks as if Kelly will get a full payout. People on Twitter said she’s basically making millions for being “incompetent” and having “garbage commentary.”

In this video below, Putin tells who baptized him, and how he discovered his identity.

In this interview, Vladimir Putin says his baptism was kept secret from his father, who was a member of the Communist Party.

His mother took him to be baptized at the Transfiguration Cathedral in Leningrad at the end of 1952. Putin says the priest suggested giving him the name Michael, but Putin's mother insisted on the name Vladimir.

Later, speaking with Patriarch Kirill, Putin asked him how he came into the Church. Kirill said that his father served as a priest in Leningrad in the Transfiguration Cathedral, in the 1950s.

Putin asked whether there were any other priests named Michael serving there during that time. Patriarch Kirill said his father was the only one.

Thus, Vladimir Putin explained that Patriarch Kirill's own father is the one who had baptized him as a child.
