Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

Meanwhile, France appears to have grabbed the war-flag and is leading the charge in stirring up an expanded confrontation with Russia. The French Navy detained the tanker Boracay off the country’s coast on Tuesday, allegedly from the so-called Russian “shadow fleet.” The vessel is under sanctions by the UK and the EU. Earlier this year, it was already detained in Estonia for sailing without a valid flag.

According to MarineTraffic, the Boracay departed on September 20 from the Russian port of Primorsk carrying oil, passed through the Baltic Sea, went around Denmark from the north, entered the North Sea, and proceeded through the English Channel. The tanker is currently anchored near Saint-Nazaire in France.

In tandem with this, the French Army Chief of Staff announced that French troops must be ready for the start of intense warfare as early as tonight. This may be in response to a report from Borzzikman today that the Russians struck a maritime target in Odessa and killed 20 French engineers.

Ukrainian Drones Hit Oil Refinery, Chemical Plant 1500km Deep Into Russia

Impact on Russian according to my local AI:

Strategic Impact
• These strikes shattered Russia’s assumption that areas “beyond the Urals” were safe from attack
• Nearly 40% of Russia’s refinery capacity is now offline due to cumulative drone strikes
• Fuel shortages have hit 20+ Russian regions, prompting a ban on gasoline exports

Does Trump actually think that this will force Russia to agree to whatever terms they want, or does he basically have no control over what the deep state wants to do. Or if this is a bluff, it makes little sense either.

Best case scenario as I see it is that by being (more or less or somewhat) engaged in the conflict and discussion that he thinks he will somehow have greater power to mitigate it, and/or steer the direction it goes in. Then he can eventually come in and claim to be the "peacemaker" "again".

Alastair Crooke just wrote something consistent with the above:

In this latest Truth Social post, Trump takes the Keith Kellogg line to its reductio ad absurdum. “Ukraine, with the support of the EU, can take back the country [Ukraine] to its original form – making Russia look like a ‘paper tiger’… and who knows, maybe go even further that that!”

Sure – Kiev advancing to the doorstep of Moscow? Pull the other leg, Mr Trump. Of course he is trolling Kellogg and the Europeans.

Then, following Trump’s meeting with Zelensky, France, Germany and the UK at the UN, a draft UNSC resolution was proposed echoing the European and Coalition of the Willing’s undiluted demand for Russian capitulation. Trump allowed U.S. officials to participate actively in the Resolution discussion – but then, at the last moment, had the U.S. veto it.

In this convoluted way, Trump thus succeeds – like Janus – to face two directions at once: Facing one way, he is 100% behind Ukraine, extolling Ukraine’s ‘Great Spirit’ and adopting the Kellogg line that Putin is in big trouble. But ‘facing the other way’, Trump contrarily commits to “not restricting the possibility of peace talks, nor having tensions escalate further”.

Putin can live with Trump’s ‘Janus schizophrenia’ – as Russian forces advance on all key battle fronts. The bottom line is that the White House has signalled that it is not interested in war with Russia. That’s obvious. There is anyway a more concerning war brewing inside the U.S.

I've heard it argued that Trump's just giving Kiev more rope (via the EU) from which to hang itself a little faster, which is possible too.

Trump recently claimed:

Outspoken Russian hawk and firebrand Dmitri Medvedev has not stopped trolling Trump over the US nuclear submarine deployment, and the US President's annoyance over the issue continues to show.

The former Russian president and current Security Council Deputy Chairman has said in fresh remarks tinged with sarcasm that the situation brings to mind the saying about a black cat in a dark room.

"Donald Trump is once again talking about the submarines he moved ‘over to the coast of Russia," this time noting that they are 'totally' undetectable," he wrote on social media.

That's when he joked: "It's hard to find a black cat in a dark room, especially if there is no cat" - suggesting the notion that American nuclear subs are patrolling waters off Russia is a ruse.

So there, on display, is Trump talking tough to misdirect some parties into thinking he's really exerting military pressure on Russia. When, according to Medvedev, he isn't.

Sputnik reports:

Russia Strikes Ukrainian Enterprises and Energy Facilities, All Targets Hit MoD
The Russian Armed Forces carried out a massive strike on Ukrainian defense industry enterprises and gas and energy infrastructure facilities, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.

"Last night, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike using long-range precision weapons as well as strike drones, against Ukrainian defense industry enterprises and the gas and energy infrastructure that supported them," the Russian ministry said in a statement.

The objectives of the strike were achieved, with all designated targets destroyed, the ministry said.

Russia's Battlegroup Tsentr has eliminated over 3,560 Ukrainian military personnel over the past week, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

As reported yesterday by Sputnik:

Russian Troops Advancing Along Entire Combat Line - Putin
Russian troops are confidently advancing along the entire line of contact, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.

"This means that our troops are confidently advancing along practically the entire line of contact," Vladimir Putin said.

Battlegroup Tsentr is actively and efficiently operating in the special military operation zone, with troops having entered the city of Krasnoarmeysk, Putin said.

Sputnik again:

Stance of European Countries Complicates Peace Process Regarding Ukraine Kremlin Spox
The position of European countries is complicating the peace process in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

"Right now, from our perspective, the main factor [complicating the peace process in Ukraine] is, of course, the position of the EU, the position of European countries, which are in every way encouraging the Kiev regime to continue the war, and by encouraging the continuation of the war, they are in fact removing the Kiev regime from continuing negotiations," Peskov told reporters.

Europe is declaring the need to build new walls, although history has shown the absurdity of such actions, the spokesman added.

It's better to be "dormant" than in war with Russia.
From the article, linked to “dormant” above:

“Delivering his annual address at the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi on Thursday, Putin called the idea inconceivable.””

Geez, maybe I’m in “information overload, my dark sense of humour has kicked in, and I can’t snap out of it!
“Inconceivable”
His face, and that word, and the situation…it’s right out of the movie “Princess Bride”!

There was an article that came out in December 2024 that really bothered me; it was Medvedev revealing his world view to the media. A kind of Freudian slip or something like that:
Medvedev on the sinking of the Russian cargo ship

I don't know if this is Russia's real policy toward Europe, but if it were, we would have cause for concern.

It's not because of the "Russians won't do anything," "they won't intervene" aspect—but because their worldview is too superficial. For them, somehow, "nuking all of Europe would save the world from the threat."

Medvedev is not far behind Putin, and he is, I believe, "among the core of trust"—I mean, Medvedev is an ally of Putin.

Anyway, I see that a vision of things such as this article reveals is simply outdated and damaging in the long run. It's more: if the Russians truly pursue a policy based on ideas that lead them to this kind of conclusion, they can partner with the Chinese, develop Russia, build infrastructure, and develop a new currency—in reality, they are digging a new grave.

I had placed so much hope in Russia that when I read this article, I was a little shaken. I believe this article is important for objectivity, even if it doesn't make one happy.

I think it's very bad because we can instantly predict the future - and we see a Russia is doomed to failure. I mean, what do you want to build with such a mentality? The foundations are rotten from the start. All it takes is to stir up hatred of Europe and the whole edifice would start to shake.

Not to mention the disrespect shown to citizens by these politicians who still have the luxury of speaking out so harshly. Since that day, I've grown less and less fond of Russia, and I'm very disappointed. It's not because the guy allowed himself to say regrettable things—but because the depths of his thinking reveal overly simplified approaches to reality.

I'm not sure I should even follow the Russians. Strategically. For the sake of my sanity, I mean—that would amount to encouraging a guy who wants migrants to exterminate Europeans... The problem is, who's left?

On that note, I saw a post by Laura criticizing A. Dugin and explaining that his approach isn't enough. I have nothing against the Russians and I like them, but this is a question of objectivity, and there's only Lady Truth to follow here. I feel like running away when I read this text—and at the same time, there's a whole "Putin PR" aspect that comes back full fledge, pulling me in the other direction.

Putin - the ultimate opposing force! He's the statesman of our time - the voice of observational, reality-based truth. The collective STS West, the actual anti-Christ vs a true "Man of Steel." He can leap tall propagandist ploys in a single bound! Numerous assassination attempts have left him bullet free. Can anyone really deny his tremendous power on the world stage? Superman it is!

Some thoughts regarding Putin and this Sott article - Tomahawks for Kiev, French pirates and Charlie Kirk: Key takeaways from Putin's talk at the Valdai forum

"Multipolarity has become a direct consequence of attempts to establish and preserve global hegemony, a response by the international system and history itself to the obsessive desire to arrange everyone into a single hierarchy, with Western countries at the top. The failure of such an endeavor was only a matter of time," he stated.
To me, that reads as the ultimate pyramid scheme. And as we know, those always eventually crash.

Putin rejected US President Donald Trump's recent description of Russia as a "paper tiger," suggesting Trump may have been speaking ironically. He stressed that the Russian army has been steadily making gains and inflicting heavy casualties on Ukrainian troops.

"What's next? Well, in that case, go and confront this paper tiger. But, as you can see, the reality on the ground is different," he said.

Picture a chess match between Putin and Trump. OMG - No Contest! 💪 The orange clown is waay out of his league! And to think I voted for that guy - but then again, could hardly vote for the Camela! And Putin wasn't on the ballot (and probably unwise as a "write-in" as we struggle to exist in the new normal).

Putin's Valdai 2025 speech was not a defensive posture - it presented a vision, that is slowly but surely manifesting. He cast Europe's migration of values as evidence of cultural exhaustion, used the spectacle of Charlie Kirk's assassination as proof of social unraveling, and declared that the liberal order has exhausted its moral and political claims. In his view, Russia does not wait in the wings: it is already acting as refuge, anchor, and torchbearer for a world seeking stability and tradition.

To read Putin's Valdai is to understand that he no longer sees the future as a contest of military might or economic blocs alone - but a values battle, in which he intends Russia to stand on firm, unyielding ground.

Through Russia, comes the hope of the world. Not in respect to what is sometimes termed Communism or Bolshevism - no! But freedom - freedom! That each man will live for his fellow man. The principle has been born there. It will take years for it to be crystallized; yet out of Russia comes again the hope of the world. -- Edgar Cayce

Just sayin'.
