In 1976 or 1977, I read a paper by several researchers who had concluded than no one of us can actually relate to more than twelve people at one time. This was a neurological explanation for this phenomenon, and the research was held to be of great importance to teachers, and management teams, probably some obvious application in the military too. Does this ring any bells for anyone? I would like to track down that original research, and any subsequent research on the subject.
