Is there a post to explain what the persons "Ratings" are IE. force is strong, disturbence in the force, etc.

Hi Roger,

Basically the rankings are in line with the Star Wars theme and it's dependent on the number of post. Rankings are assigned automatically. It's starts with "A Disturbance in the Force" then "The Force is Strong With This One" then "Padawan Learner", "Jedi" followed by "Jedi Master", "Dagobah Resident" and finally "The Living Force". As your number of postings increase, you automatically move up the rankings, so to speak.

Beyond those above, you still have moderators and administrators and they are not dependent on the number of post. :)

Sounds like you're projecting. Does tracking the number of posts made make you feel competitive? Tracking the number of posts is standard on internet forums, it was part of the forum software.

no hard feelings, I just try to deprogram myself of the competitionsystem I learned in school and university and
I thought the c-community people where already on the problem, but obviously not.
maybe I'm projecting, but maybe it could have been removed from the start. Discussing so farout and
advanced topics, and at the same time not being able to see the indoctrinated pattern of competition in
it's basic srtucture seems kind of controversial to me.

I guess it's not a big deal for an IT specialist to solve this (rating)thing.

just my opinion, but if you want change, you gotta start with the little things...

You're missing the point. There is no competition. You're only thinking of competition because of your programs (your personal definitions of how things 'should be'). The number of posts is just that - number of posts. It does not suggest superiority or even advanced knowledge, it's just number of posts. There are people with lots of posts here who are still very early in their learning, and in posting so much, they learn more. There are people with few posts here who are very far along. There is no competition in a colinear network, which is what this is.

Basically, you are applying your definitions to this situation when those definitions are not applicable.

I guess it's not a big deal for an IT specialist to solve this (rating)thing.

There is nothing to solve. It is your definition and understanding that brings competition into this - if you change that, then you'll be closer to truth of the matter.

Chet Baker: Why try to deprogram from a competitive system? From Grade school, High school, onward, it used to be one of the fine points of the US Educational System. It separated the High achievers from the average to low. If fairly implemented, it also got rid of the so called bad achiever. But with the STS Psychiatric System put in place, it was decided that it "hurt the feelings" of the underachiever so we must all be on the same level. As you can well see , this sets up a lot of problems. It seems that there are quite a number of people who being taught in this "all is one system" cannot cope with a well educated and achieving prospect, especially in today's market. Remember "knowledge Protects"
