Real bomb attempt on EasyJet plane at Barcelona this morning

My mother just called me to say that she arrived safely back home from one week in Barcelona BUT that they were involved in a real attempt by a group of 5 jihadi looking guys to bomb the airliner with a real explosive.

They were all belted up at the airport ready to taxi down to take off having gone through all the emergency procedures. All had their seat belts on. Then at the last minute two of the lads wanted to get off the plane.

Evidently there were 5 of them altogether scattered throughout the plane.

Army plus sniffer dogs arrived and the explosives were found. Mum says Easy Jet dealt very well with it. But they were obviously delayed 2 hours because of this.

Some people pushed to get off the plane but most were told to remain in their seats.


So like many that don't get reported unless something actually happens. Keep an eye open for any reports that may come through.

Just so glad my Mum , Sister and Niece are safe. Thank goodness I did not know about it at the time!!!

I'm glad that the situation was solved and your family is safe. I can't keep thinking of the stress we are faced even in ordinary situations. Maybe this is the goal? - to keep all of us stressed?

We really need to think outside the box to continue living.

Sorry to hear about this Liza, and glad it turned out ok. It's strange that there's nothing in the news about it. How did your mum know that explosives were found?

It's strange that the group of people who were allegedly planning a terrorist attack resembled jihadis. One would expect them to look as 'normal' as possible in order to get aboard unnoticed. FWIW

Anyway, I'm very glad that your loved ones are safe, Happyliza!

At the moment there are no news in the Spanish papers neither in the Catalonian ones

Thank you I am still in shock at the thought that this morning I could have lost half of my little family in one fell swoop. And been none the wiser if it was not announced etc. for ages because my daughters would not have even known they had not returned to even inform me! So scary. But I do feel that praying and singing to my crystals nearly every day could have helped protect them and the other passengers?

So I called mum just now after reading the questions. Turns out that mum did not see any of them directly. Not until she was on the train with the passengers did she find out more thankfully.

The airline kept updating them exactly what was going on every few minutes. As well as thanking them and keeping them calm all the time. It was the other passengers who said that explosives had been found.

Regarding how they looked - was speculation. They did look like normal passengers however one had a thick jumper that seemed too thick for the circumstances and that people 'thought' he was hiding something underneath it.

The airline DID inform the passengers that two people wished to leave the plane. They announced that the two wished to disembark.

Mum was sitting near the middle of the plane but this was taking place near the front of the plane.

Luckily mum had only praise for the airline and how they handled everything. She said 5 were arrested.
