Congratulations with the new house! Seems like you've made a move for the better :)
I moved into the house I live in now about two and a half years back, and I must say this is the best place I've ever lived in. My daughter's school and mum are very near, the neighbourhood is nice, I have very friendly neighbours (even knowing my neighbours was new to me) and I made a lot of new friends in this city. I hope moving works out as well for you as it did for me.
I shouldn't worry too much about your son having to leave his friends behind. Though he may think otherwise, once he starts making new friends he'll soon have forgotten all about it. Friendships around that age are pretty "fluid", for lack of a better term.
