Hi all
I found this mechanism always intriguing. It showed me, that there was once more knowledge available than according to popular belief. Hey, it's a complex work of cogwheels and gears, made even **** before Christ was born **** !!!!
To make such a thing it needs some extensive knowledge of mathematics and about our universe. Some years later the people thought again that our world is flat.
But as with many articles in newspapers, because pictures take away to much space, they don't show you them, even if it would be helpful. But today we have the internet, so here is a link to some cool images.
If you click on one of the pictures, a program opens a bigger window with the picture. By clicking into it and moving the mouse you can change the direction of the light. It's really great to see this stuff, almost 3D. It just makes it more real. Java is needed and its slow to start if you don't have a fast computer:
