RFID & "Augmented Reality"

Well, RFID is definitely a bad idea, not to mention broken technically, but this article is not about RFID as far as I can tell, but rather about using location services like GPS and cell tower triangulation. What is the connection to RFID?
 
Did you watch the video? It clearly says that the product will have a unique identifier like RFID... :)
 
Ah, I see. I only read the article at first. Yeah, they mention using RFID to get information about objects that are being looked at. In this case the RFID is used similar to how barcodes are used, so they are not really malicious as such. It's when you can access information from passports, such as the US ones, through RFID, that it gets bad, especially since they are hackable and cloneable...
 
Yes, I agree absolutely. It is the way they spin this "wonderful" technology that gives me the creeps! :scared:
