Children’s Health Defense
is expanding its Kennedy News and Views website and has several immediate positions open. Please email us if you’re interested in applying for any of the positions below. Social Media Manager
The social media manager is a full-time position. The social media manager is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and monitoring Children’s Health Defense’s social media channels to grow followers and increase engagement. The social media manager is responsible for posting all content from the news and views website on Children’s Health Defense’s social channels. The social media manager will work directly with the comments moderators to ensure comments on posts are following set guidelines. The social media manager will grow the social share partners/crosspost partners to ensure other people/influencers/organizations are sharing content. The social media manager will design high-quality memes. The successful candidate will be required to collect and review social media analytics to develop more effective campaigns and provide weekly reports. The social media manager will manage and reply to incoming messages via social media.

Responsibilities:
  1. plan, implement, manage and monitor Children’s Health Defense’s social media channels in order to grow the following and increase engagement
  2. post all content from the news and views site on Children’s Health Defense’s social channels
  3. work directly with the comments moderators to ensure comments on posts are following set guidelines
  4. grow the social share partners/crosspost partners to ensure other people/influencers/organizations are sharing content
  5. design high-quality memes
Qualifications:
  1. 2+ years experience running social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  2. bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field
  3. excellent attention to detail
  4. excellent written and verbal skills with a strong knowledge of AP Stylebook
  5. exceptional multi-tasking skills
  6. ability to prioritize
  7. ability to analyze analytic and develop strategies to be more efficient in growing following and engagement
  8. strong problem solving skills
  9. strong graphic design skills
  10. excellent team player

Content Manager
The content manager is a full-time position. The content manager is responsible for posting content to the website via WordPress and managing/sending the daily enewsletters via a CRM. The content manager writes summaries of trending news stories from a reporter perspective. The content manager will help find featured images for articles. The content manager will write/post action alerts via a CRM platform. The content manager will work with the social media manager to schedule posts and help design high-quality memes.

Responsibilities:
  1. post content to the website via WordPress

News Aggregator
The news aggregator is a full-time position. The news aggregator is responsible for tracking news relevant to their specified topic and identifying trending/credible news, and then email suggested content to editors. The news aggregator writes summaries of trending news stories that are accurate and concise in an efficient, fast-paced manner from a reporter perspective. The news aggregator establishes content sharing partnerships and reposts relevant content once approved by editors. The news aggregator finds featured images to accompany posts and writes accurate, clickable headlines.

Responsibilities:
  1. scour sources to find trending/credible news stories specific to a beat/topic
  2. email suggested post(s) in order of priority to editors with link to source(s), planned take on the news story, and other relevant information as to why this is the best post(s) for the day, including vertical/category tags.
  3. write summaries of trending news stories from a reporter perspective that are accurate and concise in an efficient, fast-paced manner, properly linking content with credible sourcing + SEO
  4. post content to the website via WordPress
  5. establish content sharing partnerships and repost relevant content
  6. find featured images to accompany posts
  7. write accurate, clickable headlines
Qualifications:
  1. 2+ years experience working as a reporter
  2. bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field

Fact Checker
The fact checker is a full-time position. The Fact checker is responsible for ensuring all content live on the news site is accurate and well sourced from credible sources and peer-reviewed studies. The fact checker plays a very important part of the content process and must review all content prior to it going live. Fact checkers will ensure that all facts mentioned in an article are credibly sourced. Fact checkers work with comments moderators when questions arise regarding comments on the website or social media.

  1. 2+ years experience working as a fact checker or editor
  2. bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
  3. excellent attention to detail
  4. excellent written and verbal skills with a strong knowledge of AP Stylebook
  5. exceptional multi-tasking skills

Freelance Reporters
Freelance reporters are part-time positions. Freelance reporters work directly with editors to develop stories. Freelance reporters are given specific assignments with deadlines. Freelance reporters are responsible for ensuring all sources are credible and properly linked. Freelance reporters are expected to respond to comments made by fact checkers and editors. Freelance reporters write credible, clickable headlines and suggest featured images.
