I am RH- and was tested as an adult.

when your blood was tested, you still had your mother's blood running through your system.

I was 4 or 5 years old at the time of the test...I remember it and still have the little booklet/blood card somewhere how long would my mother s blood run in my system?
how was the RH positive gene activated?

my cousin s changed during her first pregnancy!

when I tried to give blood at 17 I was given a new blood card now being 0 -

but I had been on the pill for a year,full strength in those days, maybe that was a trigger

You might have the Rh variant or "Du" which is expressed as weak Rh. A weak Rh is treated as a positive.

Or you might have been transfused with an Rh+ blood (have you been transfused before?) and you might have developed the Rh antibodies against the Rh+ blood, so that the next time you were tested, you are already positive for the Rh antibodies. If you are a man (I assume you are), a lot of blood bankers are not really concerned about transfusing Rh+ blood to Rh- males because Rh reactions are just commonly very significant in women who are of child bearing age.

Sounds like me. I have Rh neg grandfather, uncle, child and obviously I carry the gene (to pass on to a child since it must come from both parents to manifest) and have many of the characteristics, but I am classified as Rh positive.

ha! I just realized that my previous post in this thread revealed my complete lack of knowledge! Er I have no idea what my blood type is besides being RH-. Doh! :P

LOL You might want to find out hon...knowing your blood type can save your life in an emergency.
