I was doing some general knowledge seeking, and I decided to find the closest megalithic structure/site to my current location.. I wanna see me some pyramids lol. But since I live in Spfd Mo USA, the closest thing to me is the Spiro Mounds it turns out. However after looking at them online I was not impressed. I was however impressed by another set of mounds (Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site) that is within driving range of my location and I will ink them below since they have a strange property to them.

They look exactly like the pyramid of the sun.. but buried, just like that huge pyramid in Turky. I think I am going to have stop by and inquire... ;) maybe with a shovel and the cover of night lol.

Another interesting thing is that the 'natives' that built this also built a wooden version of Stonehenge.
"To the west of Monks Mound is a circle of posts known as Woodhenge." (above link)

Looks like I may be going to see some Pyramids after all.

If anyone is local and wants to meet me up there or take a trip with me and possibly discuss the real history of this site or just its esoteric value while we are there I would love some intelligent company :)
Just message me and I will give you my phone #.
Location: N 38 39 31 W 90 3 41 in St. Louis, Illinois, USA. (this is where we be headed) no pun intended lol

Strange looking thing.

Look`s like the natives were attempting to recreate the size and shape of a "flying saucer" and though constructed from dirt, maybe hoping they could get it to fly!

Yes, the north American pyramids are fairly unknown to the public. From my understanding some of them where even razed(leveled) to the ground in the 19th century whithout conducting any real archeological research.
More info is thus appreciated ;)

What huge pyramid is there in Turkey though?

Göbekli is familiar, started a thread on that one myself. The Bosnian "pyramids"... I'm afraid the jury is still out on that one ;) (too much hype around it for my taste)

EDIT: Forgot to mention. The Bosnian pyramids are also discussed on the forum (just type in bosnian pyramids in the search box)

I find myself standing in awe in front of the giant monolith at Luxor about 2 to 3 times a year. I feel very close to 'the One' at these moments. I am even more in awe walking around Luxor. There are mounds everywhere! Amazing, gigantic mounds!

It all ends about two hours later, when my 7 & 7 runs dry and the Blackjack dealer has robbed me once again. Damn these lessons! :D
